This not a slam on anyone. Just some thoughts on the sport.
Just my 2 cents. Nance was a head of his time in designing building and molding small parts also.
Look at the parts such as steering arms brakes , knock offs and many more. The man was a genuis in the old school way.
And another one that could do it all from building a car to building a motor to driving was Lenoard Mccarl.
By the way one more was Bob Trostle a top knotch builder that could do it all.
These men built cars from scatch long before there was a racer called a outlaw, then when the outlaws came and were true outlaws that raced where and when they wanted, they were still building and designing cars and equipment.
Today racers buy everything and race when their sancationing body lets them.
So you decide.
LETS RACE BOYS

Nobody puts a gun to race teams and forces them to run with any series. Anybody can be a "true" outlaw...just don't take tow money or expect a point fund check. The go race when you want, where you want. Don't blame the traveling series for setting rules that benefit the series and, in the long run, the series teams.
Remember too, guys like Kinser, Nance and Trostle didn't have rules constraints like there are now. Guys built lighter cars, for example, than the competition. You can't do that now. Most everybody has the same stuff now when it comes to chassis, shocks, ect. Maybe how you combine all of it makes a difference somewhat on the track. It's also why the top teams are trying to squeeze a little extra horespower from these engines, too.
Frankly, the racing I've witnessed this year at many tracks and many series is better than it has been in years. Whether that has do you with implementation of recent rules I do not know. That said, the product on the track has been outstanding this year.
