Last Sat. at Ventura before the main the sprint cars did the fours much to the delight of the crowd but unfortunately Naylor blew a gasket and called a drivers meeting and read the riot act to the drivers. Seems to have been the drivers idea and not Naylors. Naylor has to worry about the cursed 10 o'clock curfew so I can see his point. Most of the posts on the VRA fan board loved the fours, but when you consider what it costs to run over curfew. Next door to the track a really loud concert was going on making twice as much noise as the track which lasted until after midnight.

It is really to bad. To me the fours is one of the best parts of sprint car racing at Perris. I think its the tradition that really gets me going. I stand and wave my hat like all the rest of the race fans and listen to the roar of racing engines. It gives me quite a thrill. I understand Mr. Naylor's concern with the curfew, but maybe something can be eliminated or abbreviated to give this tradition back to the fans.

Agreed, the fours is one of the highlights of the evening for me. It tends to get me pumped up for the main event.

Simply start the other classes earlier! Too simple of a solution Jim. The curfew is a bunch of BS anyway. The cocka roacha bean music at the fair grounds went on till midnight and LOUD as all getout. The curfew is for noise and that garbage they play is louder that the 360's.

If you don't like the'cocka roacha bean music' ,file a noise violation complaint. As of now we have a 10 o'clock curfew and we run our $400 mufflers...we're good to go...but if you choose to stir it up with the Fair Board again ...go ahead..personally I think you should overlook those loud neighbors..and continue to have our fun Sat. nights

LOL Always looking to cause trouble aren't you. Dude its the fact that one is OK and the other isn't that stinks. One has a curfew and one doesn't. Why? Because it's not politically correct?

Forgot one thing about Perris, Dave. About the time they form up for the fours, PAS plays "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC. Now that combined with the fours and all of the fans standing and waving gets my heart going real good. And I think most of all the drivers enjoy doing it as an appreciation to the race fans. Sounds like that was what the VRA drivers were doing - for the race fans. Good for the drivers! Hope things work out at Ventura. As turn4rob might say, "I feel your pain."

I agree! The fours are fun for the drivers and the fans. Jim should figure out a way to acomodate the fans on this one. Start 5 mins. earlier. It's not a big deal! As far as the loud music goes, don't stir the pot. We have enough problems with noise and mufflers and track closings allready. We don't need to alienate any more groups!!

I enjoyed the fours. Sometimes I like driver introductions. I really dont need to see both all the time, but when we have extra time I am not opposed to seeing them or to going home a little early. I have more of a drive than a lot of people and less than a lot of others, but I never mind taking off a little early after seeing the show.
As far as the music goes, if its covering up the race track noise till well after we are done then good for us. I couldnt hear the music till I was leaving, so it didnt bother me at all. Let and let live, how would you like to pay for a show and have to listen to racing for the first half of it?

Doing fours before the start of the race might be great for the fans, but when another driver runs over your left front tire and puts you into the wall sucks. You get a DNS and no money or points. It happened to Rodney Argo about 9 yrs.ago, the other driver was the Shermanator. So the fours before the race makes ME nervous.

I remember both Sarah Fisher and Joey Saldana getting plopped over while doing 4's with the All Stars.
I always thought they stayed away from the 4 wide salute at Ventura because the track is so narrow.

The track can handle the 4 wide just fine unless its a greasy mud bath. As far as the salute goes you follow the car in front of you! Guess some can't do that very well.

The World Of Outlaws claims that they are "Often Imitated, but Never Duplicated" . So the question is..."Who was the First Club or Track to do the Four Wide Salute"?

The Outlaws are referring to the style of racing ie "Touring, Winged 410 Series". The salute is part of that but in my opinion its not what they are referring to in "often imitated, but never duplicated". It is awesome however in any sprint car race to see it. That said there is no tougher looking sight than the four wide at the Gold Cup and Knoxville Nationals... just something about those events...I imagine the oval nationals have the feeling too. I cant wait till the day I make the Oval Nationals.
Cheers!

That really loud concert next door was probably attended by mostly citizens of Mexico. Everybody knows that in California Mexicans have more rights than Americans.

Lighten up fuel man, couldn't you see the LOL? Geeez, it was a joke. So maybe this is a good time for you to get a sense of humour and I'll worry about what I hear.
I never even heard about it but as you well know, people have a way of seeing things they way they want to if it involves their guy.
