How many cars do you think will be at arlington in about a week?

Don't know, but the normal count for a typical IRA race up in this area is right around 30. Sometimes 28, sometimes 33 so I always figure for about 30 cars. I do smell another victory from Scott Winters, anybody else?
This will be my first time going to Arlington and I'm coming from Rice Lake, WI area. What's the best way to get to Arlington via the metro?

Probably from hwy 212 and then taking hwy 5 to Arlington, but I'm not quite sure.
I am so excited for this race, it was incredible last year!

Ok, that looks like it makes sense to me. Thanks.
I assume Jackson will run 360's on the same night. Will that affect how many cars will go to Arlington or Jackson for that matter? I know it's 360's vs. 410's, but do any drivers down there run both motors besides Winters?

I don't think it will have a big affect on car count. I think that the guys who do run both (besides Winters) like to chase the Jackson point championship. The IMCA sprint count could be higher too, but we'll see. resprinter- if you are having a trouble getting to Arlington or finding the track on Saturday, give me a call on my cell at 507/327-0917 and I'll see what I can do.

A simple way also to get to Arlington from the Twin Cities would be to take US 169 south past Belle Plaine to Hi way 19 -the turn west on 19 thru Henderson,Minn. Keep going west on 19 to Co. road 9- Turn right (North on 9). follow it right to Arlington ( It will take you to the west end of the track right on 9. For the IRA show- I reccomend you get there early- Last year it was a sellout-standing room only. Good Luck- See you at the races! Pat

I live in Forest Lake and I take 35e down to Cliff Road or 11, cut across to Hwy 13 and take that to Hwy 169 then south to County 41 (Chestnut Blvd) across the river into Chaska. Out of Chaska I take a left on Hwy 212 and take that over to 5 which takes you right into Arlington.
Steiny told me that he likes to take I494 to 212 and that's probably the fastest way if you don't mind the airport and Bloomington traffic. I have tried the Hwy 19 route where you cut across from I35 and that seemed to me to take the longest. Another way I went a few times was 169 down to Belle Plain then across on 25 to 5 and down to Arlington. There is no all freeway route to Arlington so you've got a few different choices depending on what type of scenery you like.
494 to 212 you'll fight some traffic and see some nice river bluff country.
13 to 169 you'll go through Shakopee and past Canterbury.
19 you'll see a lot of farm land and have plenty of time to enjoy it.
169 to 25 you'll go through a couple of small towns, cross the river and then you'll even see some farms.
Somebody who goes there every week should let us know where the construction is. That could influence our route as well.

I don't go down the hill to Chaska & all the way back up to Norwood on 212.
I take I-494 to MN Hwy 5 & go through Chanhassen & Waconia.

How does that work out for you compared to the other routes?

I travel down to Arlington from the cities every week and I have tried many different routes. I think ths best route that I have found is probably 169 to Belle Plain, jump on 25 in Belle Plain to I believe 9 in Green Isle, take a left in your in Arlington in like 5 minutes. Out of all the routes I would say this route is very comparible in distance but also feels the quickest.

The new 212 is open. You pick it up off Mn 5 in Eden Prairie west of 494. This will take you to 212, take 212 west to Mn5 south to Arlington.

I believe it was $20 last year and I think it is the same again, but it may have gone up.

Now that the new 312/212 is open that is the best way to get to arlington, 494 to 312/212, that will bring you right on the west side of chaska, follow that through norwood, then go south on highway 5 there is only 2 stoplights from the cities all the way to arlington on that road, I drive up there everyday and I live in Arlington. It's almost a straight shot, it is the easiest and the quickest way.

It was less hilly, but I haven't tried the new 212 route.
I can't see any reason to go down into the Minnesota River Valley, just to have to come back up to Arlington!

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I try to get to one new track every year and it's Arlington this year. We'll hit Jim Falls the following night so it should be a great weekend.

hwy 212 is closed in chaska
5 is under construction
hwy 312 is now open and thats the only way to get from cities to arlington
take 494 to 312 then 312 turns into 212 then you will see a sign to turn to arlington
