Heading to KC Raceway next weekend for the first time to check out the Outlaws! Anybody planning on camping? Hoping to see a bunch of cars and a great race.

Coming to KC for the first time? I grew up at KC and being going there since i was 2. Super fast and very exciting. You'll love it. Yes it's rained just about every saturday it seems like this year. nothing we can do about mother nature tough. That's the beast of this business. Since your a first timer here watch the kid Cole Duncan son of Rodney Duncan. Hard on the gas and can flat wheel a sprint car for a kid. 1st full year running. Rememeber that name. His dad was a first class guy and racer also. Have fun and see you under the sunny skies next saturday let's hope. Schatz. Will win though!

The single best sprint car race I have ever seen was there a few years back. Jason Myers win from about 14th and there was a fog and I think a rain delay to boot, but it was worth it. Late in the race there was a moment coming out of turn 4 that they were about 5 wide battling for second. Sitting with Coach Bob and Duane Hancock (I think), either of you guys remember that night?
I also remember an All-Star show that had Kelly Kinser on the bottom and Joey Saldana on the top (a long ways apart) on the turns but side by side down both stretches what a fantastic race between the two of them that was.
Heck, I can't ever remember seeing a bad race at this place, be there! Take It Easy....

Does anyone from that neck of the woods know Doug Posey by chance? He is/was friends with the Karshners that use to own KC. I don't know if he still goes or not. Haven't seen him since the WoO's at Bristol in 2000. Last I knew he was still playing Bobby Big Rigger for a living. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

Of all of the places that I have seen across this fine country, that has to be one of the best. The place puts on one awesome show!

Now if only we could get them to run their local show for an entire season instead of just 2/3 of it....

that was by far the greatest show ive ever witnessed in my entire life. i think meyers passed m.kinser, s.kinser, madsen, kemenah all in one corner for the lead....fantastic. it just barely beat out meyers sliding kinser in turn 3 of the doty last week!
do it in the dirt

You must be kind of young. The first ever Outlaw race at KC was in 2003.
It is one of my top 5 favorite tracks!

Saw a good USAC show there in the '90's (92-93 I think). It was a year Jack Hewitt was winning everything - that race included. Some of the local guys were losin' it without the wing. One driver had to be medevaced out by helo ...always hoped he was ok. Nice track. Should be good WoO venue.

I think the guy that was medflighted out was Steve McCann. His dad still owns or works on a Sprint Car that runs at KC. Anyway I think that crash ended Steve's driving career but I think he is principal of Piketon High School in Ohio
I have never seen a bad race at KC Raceway or Atomic Speedway which was once what it was called. I seen my first race their when I was 6 months old and I am now 53. In my teens and early 20's I never missed a race their. In my late 20's my job moved me to Oklahoma and have been here ever since. I always try to make it to KC at least once a year. This year I was there on June 21st and June 28th and got rained out after the cars were in the pits. I also tried to make Attica on June22nd and Lima on June 27th with the same result. Didn't get to see a race because of the damn rain. I am still pissed. I did back in 93 get to run my Modified twice at KC and finished 2nd twice to Bob Crace. That was a thrill of a lifetime for me.
Does anyone know anything about Chuck Brown? He has the number 99 car that runs KC. Haven't seen where the car has been out this year

Thanks for the comments! I'm driving about 4 hours and it sounds like it will be worth that drive. Hope to see some of you camping out. My coolers will be jammed with some ice cold beer!
