I have some very sad news to pass along. Buzz Barton of Fast Lane MotorSport News passed away yesterday. I just heard the news and wanted to pass on info about his services.
The funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Havenbrook Funeral Home located at 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman, Oklahoma 73072. The phone number for the Funeral Home is (405) 329-0101. I was told by the Funeral Home that flowers can be sent starting tomorrow.
Buzz was a true advocate for motorsports and business that suport racing. He truely loved his news paper and having something to give back to his family when it was his time. There is no doubt he is in a better place. We will miss you Buzz.

Maybe Galen or someone else older than me can tell me. I have always wondered if this is the same Buzz Barton that I have read about that raced a long time ago? Also is he the same Buzz that used to be on the radio? Prayers to the family.

No, sorry, this was not the same "Buzz" Barton. The race driver was Emmett Barton, from Chickasha, and he died several years ago down at Lake Texoma. The Buzz Barton who founded FastLane was another remarkable man. He had an idea and he worked harder at making that idea a reality than anyone could possibly believe. He did indeed love racing and all the people involved with it, and he wanted Fastlane to be something good for both racing and for his family. No one can argue that he achieved that. He had numerous offers to sell the paper to commercial interests, who would have changed it and started charging for it, and although he could have profited from selling it, he wouldn't do it. His health was never good, yet he was out constantly, hussling ads or dealing with printers and distributors, trying to make FastLane grow. He has left an enormous pair of shoes to fill, and my heart goes out to his family.
