Ocean Speedway Wright One 360 Sprint Car Series
Round Seven Friday night July 11, 2008
After a week of hot temperatures, the red hot Wright One 360 Series returned to Ocean Speedway for round number seven. Twenty four winged 360 sprint cars packed the pits, looking to claim the winner's portion of the purse. Fresno native Craig Stidham stopped the clocks with a 12.24 qualifying time to capture quick time. Heat race action saw Jason Staler, Brad Furr, and Brent Kaeding pick off wins.
Main event action was going to be fierce. The night was growing long an all 24 cars were ready to make the call. The front row featured a pair of GSC champions, Brent Kaeding and Jason Statler. Row two saw young Ricky Wright Jr. paired with veteran hot shoe Tyler Walker. As the green flag flew BK took the top spot over Statler. The two hard chargers went nose to tail the entire race on the slick track surface. The race did not feature much passing as the slick surface seemed to keep the top guns fighting for the bottom groove. The win was the second series win in a row for BK as he closed some ground on his son Bud for the championship chase. Finishing third behind Statler was Tyler Walker, Brad Furr and Ricky Wright Jr. The fifth place finish was a career best at Ocean Speedway for Wright Jr. and on his heels was point leader Bud Kaeding. Rounding out the top ten was Evan Suggs, Craig Stidham, Stephen Allard, and Keith Day. This week Tyler Walker, Ricky Wright Jr. and fast timer Craig Stidham managed to lock themselves into the prestigious Johnny Key race.
