The GRP dirt track racing trivia contest for Sprints and Late Models started at one minute after midnight this morning, Sunday January 21. See how your knowledge of dirt track racing specifically in regards to Minnesota and the surrounding area stacks up to the competition.
While you're on the website be sure to check out the "Minneapolis 500" history work by Noel Allard. Noel has had some of his work published over the years and has graciously shared this great project about the track that was built on the current location of the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport in the early 1900's. The track hosted a race in 1914 but encountered financial problems and ended up closing down shortly after. This track rivaled the one in Indianapolis at the time it was built.
Also, while you're on gotomn.com check out Stan's gotomn dirt track racing podcast. An un-sponsored, non-professional, fly by the seat of my pants look at racing in the upper Midwest. Think of it as a campfire chat at the track campgrounds, an opportunity to share some opinions and racing BS.
