TERRE HAUTE, ORP NEXT FOR SILVER CROWN;
FILLIP WINS AT RICHMOND – ONE FOR THE AGES!

JUNE 30, 2008 --- Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. is the new leader in USAC’s K & N Silver Crown Championship Series presented by Optima Batteries entering races July 23 and 24 at Terre Haute and Indianapolis, Ind. The July 23 race is the First Financial Bank “Sumar Classic” at the Terre Haute Action Track and the July 24 race is the “J.D. Byrider 100” presented by TourHendricksCounty.com at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis.

Chet Fillip of Speedway, Ind. scored his first USAC feature victory in 10 years Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway, grabbing the checkered flag in the “James River Grounds 100” USAC K & N Silver Crown Series race presented by Optima Batteries. The win was his first in USAC Silver Crown racing, his last USAC win coming in the USAC Sprint Car Series. The win also made Fillip the elder statesman among Silver Crown race winners at age 51, surpassing George Snider’s 1990 victory at 49.

Fillip led the final 62 laps of the race in his Advanced Racing Tex-Mex Chevy to beat Cameron Dodson, A.J. Fike, pole starter Hines and Wayne Reutimann Jr.

Fillip started 10th and caught Hines with an inside pass entering turn three. Only one caution flag interrupted the event, when Brian Tyler lost a wheel on lap nine and hit the outside wall in turn three. During the caution, Shane Cottle pitted with a fuel leak. Fillip averaged 107.698 mph for the distance.

Ryan Smith led the first six laps before Hines moved to the front. Hines won the pole on Friday with a qualifying speed of 131.598 mph in his Tony Stewart Racing entry.
