410s (18 Cars)

Welcome Mat
Mike Sitzmann, Jr., Bronson Maeschen, and Matt Wasmund. Yup, welcome mat is getting pretty weak.

MIA
Gary DeWall, Lynton Jeffrey, Brooke Tatnell (WoO race), Wade Nygaard, Billy Alley, & John Miller

VIP
The regulars in the regular location with a new member in the DudeFan.

Time Trials (1 lap each)
Justin Henderson (6th out) set quick time for the 5th time with a lap of 10.962 with an average speed of 123.153 MPH on a track that was lacking moisture. Bronson Maeschen was a nice surprise to be 2nd quick with a nice lap at 11.097. The rest of the order through the top 12 that hit the heat invert: Johnn Cressman, Gregg Bakker, Jake Peters, Chad Meyer, Scott Winters, Mark Dobmeier, Marlon Jones, Micah Schliemann, John Lambertz, and Gordy Vogelaar. Mitch Runge scratched after hot laps with engine woes and Matt Wasmund broke an axle during his lap but somehow did not go for a ride.

Time Trials Grade: B+; good to see a not-so-tacky track that promised good heats and hopefully a good feature.

Heat 1 Finish: 12L D1 57x 23w 2D/ 9M 56 4w 6

Heat 1 Notes: Lambertz took off with the lead on a very racy track with the top starting to inch closer to the wall, and a good bottom to get a run off with nothing but slick stuff imbetween. Henderson moved up to 3rd when Cressman spun out by himself on lap 6. Contact on the last lap down the backstretch gave Henderson 2nd over Peters at the checkers. The heat win was Lambertz's 2nd of the year.

Heat 2 Starting Order: 10 Laps

33

Gordy Vogelaar

Row 1

4

Micah Schliemann

13

Mark Dobmeier

Row 2

Mike Sitmann, Jr.

Row 4

Chuck McGillivray

Heat 2 Finish: 4 13 33 11x 1w/ 96 101 92

Heat 2 Notes: Schliemann took the lead from Vogelaar during lap 2 with Dobmeier coming on strong. Dobmeier wasn't able to completely track down Schliemann has he held on for his 4th heat victory of the year. Bakker and Meyer exchanged sliders on lap 4 with Bakker hanging on for 4th.

Heat Grades: B; Pretty good racing action in the heats, especially for the standards Huset's have set this year. The 2nd heat wasn't the greatest but the track was slicking off and was a driver's track, not a motor track.

B Feature (Top 2 Tag the A, 8 Laps)
Starting Order: No B Feature as all 17 cars still running made the A.

B Feature Grade: N/A

A Feature (25 Laps)
Starting Order: 4 pill was drawn

Initial start was a good one with Meyer taking off with the lead, beating Peters into turn 1. The cushion was right up against the wall, the bottom could be run throughout, and rubber was evident on the high side, but it was just a matter of time. It was a big time momentum track to start out with. Meyer led everyone into lapped traffic as Dobmeier had a great start, getting by Henderson and others as he took 3rd at the completion of the first lap. Meyer began to struggle with lapped traffic at about lap 9 and Dobmeier saw his opportunity to pounce as he went 3 wide down the backstretch and took the middle to go by a lapper on the bottom and Peters on the top. Ballsy move to say the least.

Dobmeier would run Meyer down a few laps later and took the lead with 13 to go, at the halfway point, coming out of turn 2 going down the backstretch. Something that the Report thought would never happen, but Winters spun out by himself with 7 to go in turn 2. On the restart, Cressman spun out going into turn 1 resulting in Wasmund & Rosenboom getting collected and all three getting upside down and fuel going all over the track, but no fire at all.

On the last restart it was Dobmeier leading Meyer, Henderson, and Peters to the green. Henderson got by Meyer on the bottom in 1 and 2 but would have nothing for "Dynamite" Dobmeier as he won his 3rd straight race at the track, 4th of the year, and 24th career 410 win. Henderson was 2nd, Meyer 3rd, Peters 4th, and Schliemann was 5th. The track took rubber the last 7 laps and it was follow the leader to the checkers. Lap leaders were Meyer 1-12 and Dobmeier 13-25.

Finish: 13 D1 1w 57x 4 11x 12L 33 96 9M/ 2D 23w 101 92 56 4w 6 28

A Feature Grade: B+; good to see a Report favorite bring home another victory and $2,500 paycheck. Good weekend for the 13 team as they were 7th up at Grand Forks with the WoO, a 4th Saturday at Knoxville, and the victory here tonight. The track was very slick for the feature, a driver's track, and very fun to watch.

360s (19 cars, 18 laps)
Cody Hansen took the lead from his front row starting spot with Rosenboom moving up to 2nd from his 3rd row starting spot on the first lap. A caution with 8 to go for Dave Glennon bundled up the field with Hansen still leading the field. Rosenboom gave him a slider in the first corner and it proved to be the winning move as he won his 7th feature of the year. Ryan Bickett was able to get by Hansen for 2nd, but was not able to run down the leader. Hansen was 3rd, Brent Vonk 4th, and Jordan Martens 5th. Lap leaders were Hansen 1-8, Rosenboom 9-18.

FOAW: Pretty easy to decide to give it to Dobmeier again. The guy is at the top of his game right now at Huset's and is the man to beat every night when everybody signs in at the pit gate. Oh, if you've forgot, he beat the Outlaws in his first night in that car (Rush #8), and the first time at the track (Wilmot), not your ordinary ho-hum accomplishment.

Crowd Pleasing Moment #1: To the Report getting some mic time during the hobby stock feature when Hot Rod decides to give a possible preview to this very CPM #1 when he was almost run over by a push truck. The Report was at the concession stand when it happened, but will put this here since Hot Rod gives it some very much needed microphone time in front of the thousands in attendance. Maybe there is hope for you Rod.

Crowd Pleasing Moment #2: To the double fist pumps near the VIP for the celebration of Rosenboom's 360 win. Quite comical and was VERY entertaining for all of the members, especially since it came from the character named "Joe Camel."

WTF: We can mention that Waldo wasn't found in the crowd or scurrying through the pits. Quite funny when the Report has friends wondering if there is going to be a bounty (and how big it might be) in order to turn me over to the loveable losers.

"Home of the Professionals" Moment of the Night: For those of you in attendance, did you know that the World of Outlaws were coming back on Thursday July 3rd? Think it was announced a good 4-6 times as it was for the last WoO pre-race. Failed to mention that its $35 again as well. Oops!

Mulligan Moment: Cressman spinning out twice throughout the night. The guy can be killer fast when he has open track, but stick some cars infront of him, and it's the complete opposite. He's been doing a lot of spinning out this year.

Head Scratcher: Jake Peters being winless so far this year with those Bargain Barn motors under the hood. He actually looks slower this year compared to last year before he was injured. Sure would be great to see Zomer winning races with those motors right now instead of struggle to put a car on the track at Knoxville after his awful weekend a couple weeks ago.

Thumbs Up: The races getting over exactly at 10 o' clock. Always a good sign to be leaving the track and there is still a glimmer of light off to the west.

Thumbs Down: To the lowest car count of the season of 18. Hopefully it starts to build up in the next few weeks, but we can only hope.

Prime Mover: Dobmeier 6th to 1st and that was your hard charger as well on the slick track.

Trophy Queen Grade: One of them looked pretty decent from way atop the VIP, but the other, eh, no comment. B+ for the one and a C overall for the two of them.

Closing Stat of the Night: After tonight, Henderson now has 25 more points from time trial competition compared to the 2nd place person in the standings, Dobmeier. That would be great to see this championship decided from that discrepancy when there are no other cars on the track.

The motors Zomer has right now came from Bargain Barn. He's fast but acts like a punk. That makes it hard to keep sponsors.

Big J, I love the report, keep it up. As for Peters being slower than last year, for him to even be racing at all this year after the effects of that awful wreck last year is an accomplishment in itself. He's lucky to even be alive. He may not be what he was, but I wouldn't exactly call him slow.

I knew someone would take offense to this is and rightfully so as your pretty close to Jake I believe. I probably should have said a little more on it. Look, I like Jake a lot and it is great to have him back out there after the injury but it just seems like he doesn't have "it", whatever "it" may be, to go out and win a race. I want him to get that first win so the monkey comes off the back for the year and hopefully it comes very soon as he is an overall great guy.

And spot1.. are you referring to Winters or Cressman? What I saw with Winters was that the car was terribly loose over there in 2 and that might have been the slickest part of the track before glazing over to rubber on last laps. Don't know what really happened but do remember seeing him extremely loose a lap or two before spinning out over there. And with Cressman, didn't really see it, just saw him sideways after the restart with the others having nowhere to go.

I was referring to Cressman. I had a real good view of Winters, practically eye to eye on that one. Yeah, he tried to spin for several laps before he actually did. There were a lot of squirrelly in turn two.

Your answer is this, Johnn cut down to go under Ballenger, only to have Ballenger turn down to block it, Johnn hit the brakes to avoid hitting him, and the rear got out from under him, thus the maylay started. Hows that?

I really don't feel that Dusty Zomer acts like a "punk". I've gotten to know Dusty over the years and feel that he is very level headed, a quiet person that minds his own business. He has worked very hard at his job, getting through college and with the race program over the last few years. He's been intensely involved using the resources (including much of his own) he has to work with this year -- and at this time it's a tight budget. As far as sponsors go Zomer still has most of those he had last year (some contributing on a smaller scale than in the past). These sponsors do realize that he is a talented driver and it's their hopes that their contribution to his racing program will someday help him reach his dream in racing. From Dusty I've seen a great deal of appreciation to those who have helped him get to where he is today. It has been a struggle with some bad luck this year but we commend Dusty for his hard work and dedication to the racing program. Good luck in turning things around for the second half of the season!

As for Jake we wish him our best as well. He did take a hard crash last year and it's great to see him back in the action this year.
