When a rear carrier broke sending Joe Gunderson into the wall last weak, owner John decided to retire the #23 challanger built in 1989.
John spent the last 15 years tinkering on the old car in his garage, John had a love for the old car from when driver Dwane Feduska and John traveled around the country under the ownership of bill & evelen pratt.
John wasent really interested in running the car, but did injoy seeing it on the track once in awhile.
Johns greatest day was 2 years ago when Dwane talked him into letting him run it one more time,
neither the car or Dwane had been out for over 15 years
Dwane had a photo finish with Damion Gardner for 1st in his heat,
Dwane did finish the main but said that was enough,
Joe & John brought the car out last week & that was the end of old yeller.
Monday morning john had the car striped down to the frame,
by tuesday morning things started to show up,
Joe brought over a nice T.C.R .he had in the shop.
Bill Persall had a new tank & bladder shiped to him.
anything John needed to put the new car together was there by tuesday night.
As of this writing the car is almost ready.
Although the car was set up for Joes 6'3" 260lb body, things have changed and John will be talking to different people as to who will be in the new car.
After a conversation with Rrickie Gaunt and other people at the track
Bill Persal has elected to put Joe in the 84 car for the rest of the year.
recent driver J.J. Ercse has left the team for personal reasons.
Sorry to see old yeller go,
she won alot of races including knoxvill.
Joes dad.
