TULSA, Okla. (June 19, 2008) - The second OCRS wing/non-wing double header of the season will take place at Creek County Speedway on Saturday, June 28. Racing fans will see two complete sprint shows with added money and double points on the line. The OCRS sanctioned event will start with the sprinters running a complete show of heats and features with their win wings on. The sprint teams then will head to the pits to remove their wings in preparation to run another complete show, this time without wings. Drivers will re-draw for the second set of heat races and each feature event will be lined up by passing points earned in the heat races. Each show will count toward OCRS points which means the night will count as two complete shows. The winged portion of the show will also count toward Creek County Speedway points. The points earned from the two A features will be combined to determine an overall finish. The overall winner will earn $1,400. The race will pay $300 to start and $150 to non-qualifiers. The payoff is as follows: 1,400, 900, 700, 600, 550, 500, 450, 400, 300 (9-20). Non-qualifiers earn $150. In case of a tie in the overall finish the passing points earned in the two features will be added together as a tie breaker. If a tie still exists then the prize money for the two spots in question will be added together and split.
For many drivers it will be their first time running without wings. Racing without the down force of the wings puts a premium on driver experience to control the car. Fans will see the sprinters get more sideways in the corners without the force of the wings.
On Friday, June 27, the OCRS will return to Outlaw Motor Speedway located just south of Muskogee for a 8 p.m. show before traveling to Creek County Speedway for the wing/non-wing event. On Saturday, July 5, the OCRS will pay their first visit of the season to Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Okla. which is near Fort Smith, Ark.

yeah the first show they had of this variety had 29 cars. we're talkin 8 heats - 2 b mains and 2 a mains total.
where can you beat that in this state - on that weekend? I mean that is a killer show.
We have to pick and choose when we go to saturday night shows. next weekend provided us with a choice. the ascs sooner region at cowtown. or the ocrs wings on/wings off at creek county.
I personally like the Cowtown track better than Creek. but OCRS is an awesome series with good promoters and great drivers. From the west side of the OKC metro - Sapulpa is half the drive as Fort Worth - and honestly whereas I think both races will br great. I think the edge has to go to OCRS. Its not often you can see a winged and non winged sprint car race same night - same drivers. I just hope that some OKC or Brill champ sprint drivers go up for this and take the car count from near 30 to 35 or more. I mean think of it this way. Its like 2 different race nights ran on the same night - with only paying for 1 round trip, 1 set of pit passes. I mean its running for a great purse for champ sprints - and its 2 complete shows - ran in 1 night. this is an awesome deal for fans and drivers both.
It was awesome that some metro area drivers made the tow to Ada. it would be even better to see em make the tow to creek. and fans too. for some of us - its hard to make 2 races EVERY weekend. so in turn you have to pick and choose the races that are worth making the trip. this is one of those races.
and it would make for an action packed weekend for us SFS patrons. imagine. June 27th at SFS will be everything but Factory Stocks (yay!) and double champ sprint features. and then June 28th - the OCRS sprints Wings on/ Wings off - (2 COMPLETE SHOWS!) at Creek County in Sapulpa. man next weekend cant get here fast enough! time now to start doing the anti-rain dance for next weekend lol.
you gotta like what creek is trying this year. Everyone also should start planning for the mini-speedweek in August. on august 13th the Sprint Bandit non-wing 410 sprints will be at SFS along with 1,000 to win modifieds. good stuff. then the highlight comes the next night - Thursday August 14th at Creek County - as they will run Sprint Bandits, SMRS midgets, and non-wing ascs2 micros. thats AWESOME! and then back to SFS on friday August 15th the ASCS Sooner Region will run SFS along with champ sprints and Pro Stocks. again no factory stocks (yay!) and o yeah - they will run the make up Sooner Region feature that rained out last week - on that friday.
Some cool things for race fans - with OCRS. and with Creek County too.

no race took place yet...
hell Larry you should run the wings on/ wings off show at creek. know you dont like 1/4's - but you could have all sorts of fun with the wing off. you ever raced minus the wing?
but then again - if you was to do that - then you might as well run both champ and super at the fairgrounds. shit why not? the fantasy league needs some more viable champ sprint picks. as of now it's mainly between 3 or 4 drivers.
