I just drove 45 miles in the sun to get to the track to find the place locked up do to a five minute shower around four o'clock. He should just throw in the towel every time there is a cloud in the sky he calls off. like last friday whem he called off at eight a.m.

I don't know about last friday but it rained solid for 45 minutes tonight. We had trouble just getting out of the pit area.

I drove about the same distance and had to pull off the road twice because it was raining so hard. Once I got to the track it rained another half hour and the front straight was under water. Their was no way they would have got that show in with the curfew they have. Kudo's to the promoter for at least giving it a shot.

What a shame that you think the track should close. We do not enjoy cancelling and getting rained out. Alot of time and money goes in all week long getting a track ready. When we rain out, all of that work is lost. Unfortunately we have a 10:30 curfew on week nights and since we had alot more than a "5 minute shower" it was actually about 5:15 and was for a good 1/2 hour or more. We got 1/2" of rain in that short time. The front stretch is still under water Thursday morning. It is a bad deal for the drivers, and there was alot of cars that showed up. Almost all drivers understood that there is no way that the show could have went on. At some point Mother Nature will start giving us a break but until then we keep trying. Thanks to everyone that showed up last night.

Sounds like this came from someone unaware that sprint car racing is an outdoor sport. We towed over 200 miles and were in the pits when the skies open up. I thought we might need an ark before it stopped raining! I'm sure you want to blame someone because of the rain, but Morgan County Speedway and it's promotors don't have the kind of pull necessary to control the weather. We will make the trip again next Wednesday, and hope the rain stays away!

I'm looking forward to this show. And can't wait to return with the Sprint invaders later this year. If the track drys up some I think the shows this fall are going to be very exciting.

What should close is this post...

Two Things:

1) It freakin' poured...water standing on the track

2) they have a curfew to deal with

Good thing we weren't planning on races for 6/20.. We got to the track this morning and noticed ALOT of water in the road... thought we got more rain last night than what we thought.. wrong ,,, our water main broke sometime yesterday/last night.  Two buildings were flooded!! Thank god for Metz Plumbing & Heating,, they are still there now digging it all up to fix the 4" water main.  We just can't catch a break this year. Pictures will be posted on our website tomorrow.
