This is a picture of the damage done to Highway 1 by the Cedar River. This section of road is about two miles south of Plaza Auto Auction and Mt. Vernon, IA and about 15 miles from downtown Cedar Rapids. The washed out road is about 500 feet long. The normal Cedar River channel is past the two buildings in the background about ½ miles from this area………
