Goobersnot JD Propps post below about the "fab-five" drivers who competed at Enid over the weekend got me to thinking on this Monday morning that I took off work due to depression over not getting to talk too my son on Fathers Day.

Would you modified drivers from throughout the state be interested in an Oklahoma based modified touring series? This would take place, mostly on Saturday nights, but a couple of Friday nights IF can get Outlaw Motor Speedway to commit. It would only be one or two nights a month and as not to step on Joe Madores toes, would not be held on any of his winter nationals series that he has lined up for a couple of tracks.

The tracks I am looking at (if people are interested) are Outlaw Motor Speedway on Friday nights with Tri-State Speedway, Creek County Speedway, Siloam Springs Speedway, Brill Motor Speedway, Mid-America Speedway, Oklahoma Sports Park, Lake Country Speedway and Enid Speedway Park. Maybe even that track in Beaver. This series would NOT go head to head against any NCRA modified nor USMTS modified shows in this area and would be an outlaw type rules (USMTS type). There would not be any scheduling on top of any other tracks special events if possible.

The first year would not charge promoters a sanctioning fee in order to prove that this "wanna be" series can bring in at least 15-20 more modifieds to the track. We would charge $25 at time of draw, which - in turn, most would go back into the series points fund at the end of the year. I would inquire to Curtis Allen, Smiley's of OKC and other Oklahoma based businesses to help with year end contengencies and hopefully per race ones. Would also ask promoters to donate to the year-end points fund and if this deal takes off, the next year would ask for a small sanctioning fee.

Drivers would draw for heats with top five (if three heats) in passing points advancing to the "A" feature with the top five from the "B" also advancing. Those top fifteen would redraw after the heat races and that would make up the lineup for the "A."

Now then, the question I am sure your asking is "Payout?" I am looking at $700 to win, which is up about $300 more than what most tracks are paying to win now. Would have to work on the payout all the way down plus in the "B" features.

What is your honest opinion on this and please vote above if you are very interested. Go to other Oklahoma based boards or call your modified buddies to see what they think.

I just talked to Lester Davis about this, and as long as the rules are Outlaw Modified type rules than you can count on Chad Davis and Joel Hill for quite a few events. They are already touring pretty much all the tracks you have stated.

It was actually Chickerings idea on this Grudge match deal. With car count being down at tracks this is an option for promoters to increase their car count at "very little" expense. It also gives the fans at these tracks a better show than what their use to with more cars that would normally not be there. Your idea in principle is a good one, I remember the MAPS Series for Pro Stocks but what had to happen there was the promoters got behind it and the fans were the ones that reaped the benifits. We would run a small series like this if it was to come about, Good luck with the Promoters and Drivers you talk with and keep us posted. It would be real cool if all the top Drivers from every track in OK. would particpate and make it to where you have to have a OK. address. And did you spell Goobersnot right, I couldn't find it in my dictionary. By the way it's the "Fast 5"!

I talked JD Propps ear off for over an hour (okay, we both talked each others ears off but it was rather informative for me) and there are different scenerios. By the way JD, as I posted bout the "irregardless" word and was told there was no such word by a "school teacher" it seemed, it is my speeling on "goobersnot" so I am going to go with it.

I have been trying to get ahold of Joe Madore to see if he is going to do that winter series he started last year. The races and support were there at least but have not been able to find out if this will happen again. If not, I want to know so maybe those tracks with winter nationals would agree to join in. Tracks/dates I know thus far for winter nationals (except SFS/Lawton) include the following:

Ada= September 26-27

Siloam Springs= October 4

Ardmore= October 10-11

Outlaw Motor Speedway= October 11-12

Enid=October 25-26 (same weekend as SFS $5000 to win special)

Fort Smith= November 1

Clinton= November 7-9

No dates for Meeker, Elk City, Creek County or Beaver.

If I can get any of these tracks to commit to at least $1500 or $2000 to win for their winter nationals/end of the year deal, I would like to ask $50 to all drivers who are committed to running what we might can put together. We could then go to these promoters and tell them (for example) that we can bring them fifteen confirmed drivers to their show which would double what most are getting for their weekly car count. That $50 that the drivers would give to be eligable for year end awards and/or contengencies and either the top ten or fifteen in final accumalative points. This is not including any businesses or people contributing $100-$500 to the year end deal. Those sponsors who climb aboard would either have their logo placed on a banner or a banner all by itself. That banner(s) would be up at every event that can be scheduled. I think that championship hoodies and t-shirts for the top ten or fifteen would be a good deal along with trophies. I would also ask each promoter to help a little since we would be bringing it at least $1500 per fifteen cars - if not more.

If this deal is a reality and goes well, we will look into doing it once or maybe twice a month in 2009 and see if promoters will work together to let their drivers off or not have it a points night for the modifieds at their track. It should be alot bigger with mistakes that will be made during these races being resolved before 2009 starts. It will also allow everybody to help find series sponsors for money or contengencies and maybe 2009 will see 20 traveling teams. Don't laugh, NCRA is basically based in Wichita but they have close to 15-20 followers heading to other tracks.

Rules would be track rules with their scorers but I would be in the press box making sure all is correct. Track personel would be in charge of inspections before and after each race. I mentioned "we" several times above but right now it is only "me" really looking to do this deal. I say "We" for anybody else who wants to help organize to get this thing going and hopefully take off in the future. One mention was for it to be for Oklahoma drivers only.

If you are interested in the above please email me so I know the names of you who are interested. If your a promoter, please email me so I will know and contact you. Also, please IF YOU HAVE ANY THOUGHTS OR IDEAS, PLEASE POST OR EMAIL THEM TOO ME!!! This is a series that is in hopes of boosting modified car counts at tracks throughout the state at least once a month and give you all a chance to travel for a reason.

Thank you all for your time, let the criticism begin.
