I sat down last night to run the basic numbers to run USAC a few times next year. To join USAC $325, 2 spec mufflers $450, mandatory head and neck restraint $450, mandatory 1 way radio $250 total $1,475 plus $25 fee per race, wow! 20/20 hindsight makes me yearn for the SCRA days.
The conclusion I come to is Victorville Raceways Sprint Car races look like the answer to me. 250 tons of new clay, a widened track for more passing radically increased banking in corners mean some serious racing.
I went and viewed the rebuild of the track Sunday and realized I can have some serious racing. I went and viewed the rebuild of the track Sunday and realized I can have some real fun racing there. I spoke to the promoter Mike Gibson, a sprint car with current safety belts and head nets and mufflers (no knoxville specials or shortys) will be welcome to compete.

Dan, its not $450 for the head and neck restraint, its more like $850 to $1000, at least thats the prices ive been getting. These devices are also not tested for what type of crash a sprint car has. If Brandons right eye continues to get better, Ill see you at victorville. John Springstead

I'm done racing sprintcars and putting the car up for sale as soon as I get the motor freshened up but this sounds pretty good. I may have to hit a couple of races at Victorville before it goes..

Does anyone have more information
on Victorville Speedway? Type of sprints
they are going to run ( 360's or 410's? )
and a hit of what the schedule looks like?
There had been hopes that this track was going to open
afew years ago-- let's hope it stays on track and
there are races there this coming year?!

Tom / Laurie:
You may already have the web site address, but in the event you don't, here it is: http://www.rt66racetrack.com/index.html
Here is a piece of the story under their "Track News" link. Just click on it to see the full story. Hope this helps.
Not sure what your plans are for 2007, but I wish you the best of luck for the new season.

Didn't have the website--so thanks for the info.
WIth all the " new " info coming out of USAC, we, like alot of other
car owners are always looking for other options,
Thanks again

First: Your Welcome
Second: Your not the only car owner that's thinking that way. Between being on the phone with your peers and talking to others here last weekend, there is a definite change of atmosphere as of late.

Tom & laurie. Hope to see you at victorville, If Brandons eye continues to get better we will be at all of the races there. 410s will later need to use restrictors. We Will not plan to run any U.S.A.C races, they have priced a lot of people out. see ya John Springstead #36

With Temperatures reaching the 100's and averages in the 90's, I hope with the new Track Surface, They prepare it to prevent the "One Line Dry Slick" track. And even if they Build Banking into the Facility, With out Moisture, Its going to be Tough to avoid the "One Line Dry Slicky". I wish Victoville the Best, and would enjoy the Possibility of visiting another track within driving distance. P.S. Tom and Laurie, I see you have your Internet up, Is our email working yet? Thanks for the Beer Mug!
