World of Outlaws (30 Cars)
Welcome Mat All 17 WoO cars (get well soon Lucas!). Dusty Zomer back at his home track for the first time. The Dude, Brian Paulus and Billy Alley also signing in with the locals.
MIA Scott Winters, Brooke Tatnell, Gary DeWall, Micah Schliemann, Clint Garner, Chad Meyer. Would have really loved to see what Winters could do with his good qualifying times and the way he comes up through the field. Just gonna have to wait until the July 3rd show in order for him to show his talent.
VIP Reaches capacity for the first time all year. BT24, Wertz, LDA24 and his lady friend, two Little J's, and of course the wise elders.
Time Trials (2 laps each) Kerry Madsen (5th out) set quick time at 10.722 with an average speed of 125.909 MPH.. Sam Hafertepe, Jr. (7th out) was 2nd since he came in earlier this year with a 10.724 lap. It was best to go out early on the track that was getting closer to the walls. The rest of the top 20 (with the top 12 making the invert for the heats): Meyers (14), McCarl (24), Haudenschild (R19), Schatz (15), Zomer (5z), Dollansky (2), Cressman (56), Lasoski (5), Stewart (83), Henderson (D1)/, Sides (7s), Kemenah (8K), Paulus (28), Alley (22), Peters (57x), Saldana (9), K. Kinser (20), Pittman (21). Henderson hits the invert by .005 to the displeasure of the VIP…. Of course.
Time Trials Grade: D+; since none of the crowd up top could hear the announcers or read the scoreboard since it wasn't reading times.

Heat 1 Finish: 5 5z 24 55 20 7s/ 13 20 12L 9M
Heat 1 Notes: 8 lap heats for 10 cars in it? Dumb decision, like it would matter though. This heat set the tone for the choo-choo for all 3 heats as it was all about the start in it. K. Kinser good start for him as he hit the transfer outta turn 2. This heat showed it would be best to qualify 7-12 to get the front row starting position. Typical WoO heat racing at Husets.

Heat 2 Finish: 83 2 R19 15H 8K 21/ 57x 5c 6 33
Heat 2 Notes: Good to see the R19 call up their minor league air-pressure man for the big leagues tonight. Good start for the 15H of Hafertepe as he got into 3rd but the Wild Child gets back by him for the position. Peters gets passed by the 21 of Pittman for the transfer early on. Terrible heat race yet again.

Heat 3 Finish: D1 15 14 9 56 28/ 11 18 11x 101
Heat 3 Notes: Quit making it so important if your going to send them to the 2nd row on such a horrible track for passing. It was best to start in the front row as 5 of the 6 front row starters make the re-draw for the dash. Cressman got loose on the start outta 2 and Schatz got past him for the critical dash spot.
Heat Grades: F; as mentioned it was best to qualify 7-12 and get the front row spot. Absolutely no passing in the heats unless it happened on a mistake on the start of the heats. This was worse than any other heats so far this year.

Dash Finish: Zomer patched a tire in order to get his starting position as WoO rules say he can't change a tire. Again, a pretty much single file affair as Schatz did get around the "local favorite" Henderson on a start. No passing after that as drivers were looking for lanes for the feature, but still held on to their spots. The grader was thankfully brought for intermission in order for some beer/food to be sold and as well to make a better feature for the fans.
Dash Grade: C; as it was great to see the D1 sent back by the WoO points leader on the bottom out of turn 2. A sign of things possibly to come in the feature. Zomer shows he's the local favorite, yet again, even though its his first race at the track all year

B Feature Grade: B-; Alley checked out as the locals took the first 5 spots with Dobmeier blowing by the 20 time WoO champ early in the race. Hillier was reeling in S. Kinser but just didn't have enough as Kinser held on for the last transfer. Hillier and Shaffer find out they're outta provisionals and prop their tree stands for the 'A' since they can't get into it. Bruce luckily has one last provisional to start 25th tonight.

Initial start was good with Stewart taking the point. The turning point of the night happens when the D1 gets a flat BEFORE the initial green… and more on this later. The inside row of Dollansky & Schatz are coming after Stewart's lead when he gets into lapped traffic early. The Dude pulls into the infield within the first 5 laps with problems unknown to the Report.
While in early lapped traffic, Dollansky takes the lead on lap 6 from Stewart and takes over with Schatz in tow after he gets by Stewart as well. Schatz, on the bottom and middle, got by the 2 on lap 17 and is it looks like the TSR #15 is going to win race #4 in a row with the WoO until the caution waved with 11 to go when the 20 of K. Kinser got into the loose #15H of Hafertepe Jr. out of turn 2.
This is when the crowd sees the 8K of Kemenah up from row 7 into 6th position, presumably running the bottom of the track, in normal Kem-Lawn style. It looked like Schatz had a knocked in front wing, but shouldn't have been that big of problem on the 3/8ths mile.
On the restart, the Black Deuce of Dollansky blows by Schatz in 1 & 2, as does Meyers for 2nd, with Dollansky saying goodbye until a red flag waves for Zomer (who was in the top 10, carrying the local flag) with 9 to go when a right front radius rod broke on the car sending him into the backstretch wall. Scary wreck, but Zoom Zoom would be okay after a few minutes.
Dollansky would hold on for his 3rd WoO victory of the year, 1st WoO victory at Huset's, and 5th overall victory at the track. Schatz decided to take Meyers out for 2nd while coming to the checkers in order to finish 2nd with Meyers saving it to come home 3rd. The Wild Child and Kemenah rounded out the top 5. S. Kinser was the hard charger coming from 24th to 12th. Lap leaders were Stewart 1-5, Dollansky 6- 16, 25-35, Schatz 17-24.
Post-race altercations begin to occur as Meyers did not approve of Schatz's punt-job in order to gain 4 points and the $2300 difference for 2nd compared to 3rd. Meyers gave Schatz a weak right rear on the backstretch after the checkers and it broke Schatz's right front end (shock it looked like). Dollansky was ecstatic in victory lane for his victory, but the crowd was waiting on the show and place's interviews.
Schatz gave his typical 1 line moaning quote for finishing 2nd, especially since he got passed for the victory. Meyers came on giving a quote of, "All he does is pisses and moans when he doesn't win" to the approval of the Huset's crowd after Schatz was booed.
Finish: 2 15 14 R19 8K 83 55 7S 9 24/ 15H 11 22 21 D1 28 13 18 11X 12L 20 5Z 57X 56 5
A Feature Grade: A f'ing +; its not everyday you get 4 lead changes during a WoO race, especially after the heat races looked so pathetic. The + comes since the 15 of Schatz bitches and moans in Dollansky's victory lane with Meyers counteracting with a great quote. This sets up some drama for the next race in about 3 ½ weeks come July 3rd for the last WoO visit to the track. Plus Dollansky finally gets the big victory at the track after being a regular way back in the day and Gummie as well.
360s Not on the bill tonight so while the 410's were not on the track it was a piss/beer break for the majority of the crowd during the hobby stock action. Multiple stretching periods for VIP members.
Quotes of the Night via the Mighty Wertz: 7: 40 PM "Something is bound to happen, its Friday the 13th" (More to come) 8:18 PM; When the D1 is asked what its gonna take to win before the dash re-draw, the response is: "A f'ing miracle from hell" 9:10 PM "Nice traveling scoreboard (it was tiny). It makes their stock reports make sense."
FOAW: Going to have to give it to Zomer even though he wrecked during the feature. He was running around the 5th spot most of the feature, in his 1st appearance at the track this year, and if it was for a bad radius rod, he probably would have came home with a solid top 10 around the 7-8 spot.
Crowd Pleasing Moment #1: When Dollansky drove around Schatz the afformentioned restart. Its not everyday your going to see that happen.
Crowd Pleasing Moment #2: VIP booing Johnny Gibson when he came on the microphone for the first time during the night. Talk about setting the mood for the rest of the night! Great having to hear him announce problems for his boy-toy before the green is even waved!
WTF: Schatz deciding to give Hot Foot the mighty right rear on the last lap in order to gain 2 points instead of losing it. If that's what is going to happen this summer, the 15 shouldn't be surprised when he gets upside down via the 14.
"Home of the Professionals" Moment of the Night: To the $5 increase at the gate for the customers up from $30 for a WoO race. Not one time was it mentioned last week during the 5+ times it was announced to the Sunday crowd. Talk about being blind-sided and being Rubin-ized. Good thing work came through with a few free passes!
Mulligan Moment: Schatz doing what he did, its going to come back to bite him in the ass eventually.
Head Scratcher: Dobmeier timing in at 25th out of 30 cars. This guy has the talent in order to be out on tour with these guys, but it is realistically never going to happen unless he gets his time trialing down.
Friday the 13th Moment that wouldn't happen unless…. It was Friday the 13th: Henderson getting the flat tire while lining up for the A Feature to the dismay of the crowd. VIP section blows up while the others in the stands put their faces in their hands.
Thumbs Up: Sending Shawn Neisteadt down to the pits to show us how to really do a interview and give in-depth pit reporting. Good to hear a new unbiased voice coming from down on the track. The guy is versatile, he can do it upstairs and he can do it on the track 100 times better than last year's WoO infield reporter. Good to not hear that annoying voice during a WoO race!
Thumbs Down: Having nothing on the scoreboard(s) for time trials. It was impossible to hear the announcers as well throughout qualifying. Get this figured out for the next WoO show dammit.
Prime Mover: The King coming from 24st to 11th. Good to see him finally show up for once at Huset's, even if it was a few hours too late. Honorable mention to Haud and Kemenah coming up big time for top 5 finishes. Also good to see the Report's good buddy BA (Billy Alley) be fast for the feature and move up spots throughout the 'A'.. Your ass is grass on the linx in a few weeks BA!
Trophy Queen Grade: We'll give them a A- since there were 3 of them, but the bar has been set with the queens from a few weeks ago.
Closing Stat of the Night: N/A we'll figure it come morning when the points are tallied and the Report is sober enough to figure out how many cars were passed.
Bar Recommendation in Brandon: Hit up the new bar 212 The Boiling Point while in town. It's the formers Sneakers Tavern with just a good walking distance south of the former location by the now True Value. Great for race fans and just the casual person, great food as well!
