Oh no, can't be. Heard he wasn't doing good last weekend. THE best announcer there is, was or ever has been and another great person.

R.I.P. Mr. Claxton

Man I hate to hear this. What a great guy, great car owner, and the best track announcer I have ever heard. He always had a fantastic smile, handshake and a friendly hello for you. When he would stop and ask how you were doing, he truly would listen to ya and give any advice he could.

Jack has already been missed greatly on the microphone, now he will be deeply missed in life as well.

God Speed Jack Claxton

He made the event feel as if it were of legendary status. You felt like you were at THE place.

The best I have ever heard.

Jack was a great anouncer and always would smile and say hello. I think at one time or another he sponsored about half the cars at the track. RIP Jack.

Spoke with Jack at Lakeside Speedway in KC. He still had the silky, deep, smooth voice. A true gentleman and friend to all. He went to KC just to see the non-wing cars like they use to be on the OKC half mile. RIP Jack.

Everytime I am at SFS I have really wondered how "THE VOICE" was doing.

Jack Claxton was the KING of all the racing announcers. I can still hear him saying "RIIIICKYYY

JENNNNINGS".Probably my favorite all-time driver at SFS.

Man, what a tough week.

Heaven has 2 of the greatest now for sure.

Our Thoughts & Prayers are with the Family & Close Friends of Jack Claxton.

Wow.

What a horrible week for the OKC racing community.

Jack was such a kind person, truly a gentleman.

God must have something very special planned, to call on two of the greatest people that have graced our presence, and in such a short time.

Jack was the cream of the crop. He was absolutely the best track announcer of his time. His "Mother in Law" jokes were the best. His presence in the pit area before the races was always a bonus to us racers. He would walk through the pit area every Friday before the races and talk to every single driver with pen and paper in hand taking notes.

He did this to be able to acknowledge not only the driver, but to make the fans aware of who each and every driver was.

My thoughts and prayers are with Scott, Trent, and the Claxton family.

God speed Jack.

We have lost another great ambassador for racing. Jack was another one of those guys who never complained and always came by with a smile on his face and a big ole HELLO. Jack was one of our sponsors on our sprint car. He told me back when we were running minisprints that whenever we started racing at the Fairgrounds he would sponsor us and he kept his word even when he wasn't feeling his best. Heaven must have needed Jack to announce some races. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Claxton family

my earliest memories of the speedway are of jack. such a great announcer - and that is an understatement. there will never be another like him. and he was great guy. was always so nice to my entire family. my grandmother passed in 01 and my grandfather in 05 - and jack was pallbearer at both funerals. came all the way out to sentinel and both times was not in the best of health. and it was so awesome to see him at the track a few times in the last couple of years - after all the time that had passed since my youth i was suprised he remembered me. i thinkt hat was just the kind of guy jack was - he enjoyed talking with old friends so much as well as always making new friends too. hard to find better fellas than jack claxton. i cant emphasize that enough. you will be truly missed by all.

on behalf of myself and the entire Morris and Rogers family - our sincere condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the entire claxton family and all who had the pleasure of knowing jack. rest in peace and godspeed Jack.

OMG no. Harold now Jack. I don't know what to say...Jack always had a kind word of encouragement for everyone. He had a smile on his face always and always gave encouragement to the drivers...regardless of how good or bad you were...I know...he always encouraged me. When it came to announcing, Jack always gave some information about the driver, because he truly knew it. He would talk to all of the drivers and get to know them...not just stand there and announce from a sheet of paper.

Jack, you were a true gem to the racing community and will be truly missed. TRULY MISSED. God bless the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers and if I can help, please let me know.

Rest in Peace without pain my dear friend...and thank you for always being so kind to me.

Jack will always be the voice of "Fairgrounds" Speedway to me. My 15th birthday happened to fall on a Friday night and my parents had Jack announce it during a break. He said that I turned 15 that day and had been coming to the races for 15 years and 9 months. The races have never been the same without Jack Claxton.

the thing i always liked about Jack was how he always mentioned car owners and all sponsors. he really knew the people he was talking about. i remember him walking through the pits prior to the races every week at Tulsa. R. I. P. Jack, you will be missed.
