I think that this may have been discussed previously, but I do not remember where. Who built the engine in Smoke's Chili Bowl winning car? How much, if any, of it was actually Chevrolet?

And all of his engines for the Chilli Bowl were not even assembled in the USA. I beleive that is 2 years in a row that Steve Smith ( HAWK DEVELOPMENT) engines have won the Chilli Bowl. Are these engines going to get the same critiscism as XXX chassis just because they are not made in the USA? I hope not. Well done Steve Smith

Here is an interesting tidbit....
Davey Ray was supposed to have 2 Hawk Chevys but they didn't get them in time. The Chevy he ran last week was built by his dad!

Bloody heck, those Tony Stewart engines are from Steve Smiths, about 1/2 an hours drive from my house.
He's done his time as an engine builder. I can remember back in the eighties he used to build lots of the local Newcastle Motordrome dirt late model engines and had a huge client base building ski boat engines too, even made his own rods back then, Argo rods.
