always so busy messin with the Oklahoma forum and the general sprint forum - I didn't even notice StanM was moderatin a forum on here.

KICK ASS! StanM's a cool dude. from the posts i've read and conversed with. and now he moderates a minnesota forum. cool...i'm gonna drop in from time to time to read about the minnesota dirt track racin. i like to hear and learn bout other tracks far far away.

Hey stan are you still suffering from a lack of sprint car racin up there? have the late models been puttin on shows and satisfying the open wheel withdrawals? I'm tryin to go up to k-ville twice this year - wandering if you'll be at either of the 2 shows I'm pondering. The Midget Nationals here in a few weeks? and the Knoxville 360 Nationals and Brodix ToC?

Minnesota. Land of a thousand lakes. Tubby Smith. Golden Gophers. funny lookin elevated basketball court. domed football stadium. Jackson, Princeton, Owatonna racetracks. lots of snow. bad storms lately....... this is seriously all I know about the state of minnesota. so fill me in - what good tracks and races ya'll got up there? maybe I'll share some oklahoma stuff sometime.....and what cool facts about minnesota that okies like me wouldn't know?

A few weeks ago we had the Jackson Spring Sprint Car Nationals which was an incredible show. Double Barrel, IMCA, and Jackson 360 sprints. Rock County Speedway in Luverne just opened up this year (I think). Arlington Raceway and Redwood Speedway have IMCA Sprints, they just had the Jackpot Junction Sprint Tour races this weekend. Nobles County Speedway in Worthington has a race coming up on June 6 with Jackson 360's, Jackpot Junction Tour IMCA sprints, and some mini sprints. That's about all I know right now, my brain is racked with a lot of other stuff right now.

This isn't anything new. I have had message boards and a website since 1997.

The bad storm hit Hugo, three miles down the road from where I live here in Forest Lake.

Check out the gotomn history page and photo gallery and that will give you an idea what goes on up here. I was planning on going to Knoxville for the IRA challenge but that one rained out. My old truck doesn't have cruise or air so I don't make many trips to Knoxville. Not to mention the cost of getting down there anymore...ouch!!!

man glad to hear the storm missed ya dude. i have had way too many close calls in my 26 years of living on the west side of the okc metro. 99 still the scariest by far. seeing a tornado in the distance moving the other way with the ew's and ah's is a hell of a lot different from seeing one about a quarter-half mile away comin at you and knowing you cant get out of its way and are at the mercy of it. scary stuff. still better than earthquakes though i think. people who ride elevators in california are brave souls.

man ya'll have lot of sprints up there. more than i thought. double barrell sprints? i wonder if that is the same as what we have here. we have 2 barrell carbeaurated 360 sprints. they do better than the 360 super sprints or the ascs 360's here in OK. what ya'll have that we lack are late models. we have 0. any track that runs limited late on a weekly basis - or any track that has an occasional late model series come thru - are all located on the fringes of our state. like within 5 miles of the stateline. south coffeyville is 1 mile inside our state - west siloam springs not much more. tri state in pocola is basically fort smith arkansas. although we do get an ncra late model show in enid on the 4th of july. i hope to go check that out...

what about the track size and surfaces up there? what type of dirt? do they go dry mostly or are they tacky? here in OK we get some really heavy tracks at okc - and every now and again at other places. there are a few tracks that like to keep it slick and dusty - but the 4 or 5 tracks that run sprints try to keep in tacky. we have mostly 3/8 tracks here. 1-2 quarter miles and the largest in the state is a 4/10ths. no half miles anymore. what about ya'll?

Late Models and Modifieds are the two most popular classes up here. I'm partial to Sprints but I'll go see whatever runs up here.

Tracks range from high banked quarter miles like Princeton, 3/8 like Cedar Lake (just across the border in western Wisconsin) and big half miles like Jackson, Arlington, Owatonna and Alexandria.

There's a lot of dirt track racing up here with pretty decent fields at most of the tracks. Nothing that rivals a Knoxville Nationals or the big Late Model races at Eldora but decent fields. Now if we could just get it to stop raining for a while.

yeah ya'll seem to be taking all the severe weather away from its rightful owners in oklahoma.

statewide - the dirt track racing in oklahoma is a kind of on the downswing. my hometrack - state fair speedway in oklahoma city - still has a great show but the hall of fam chili bowl promoter lanny edwards seems hellbent on making sure it doesn't last. one of his other tracks in lawton has declined drastically. they average about 6 cars in each class but mini stocks. in okc we still get about 50-60 sprints between our 2 360 classes. but the stock cars been fallin a lil from what they used to be. we get about 20 mods and 20 pro stocks now. we used to see 30 mods and 15 pro's. those 20 are actually A+ versus counts at other tracks in the state. the sadness is in our factory stocks - the rules allowed to run 10k plus engines for 250 bucks to win. they are down to about 12.

so our show is still pretty good. best in the state no doubt. especially for sprints. the ascs cars around here - its been a bit tougher for them - well as far as ascs goes all we have is the sooner region and national tour a few times a year each. the sooner region kind of goign through a rough time. but most of those sooner region ascs guys came from the tulsa area and DFW area. a few texas guys still come up - but its gettin harder and harder - especially when they have a great track to run every week down there - Cowtown - not devils bowl. but sooner region had 28 sprints tonight up by tulsa - and they will be here next week so hopefully it will be good. we'll have 2 barrell 360 sprint runnin with em - so hopefully we can have about 60 sprints total - that would be cool. the only other class is factroy stocks. wont be many of them.

thats really cool ya'll have some half mile tracks up there. no matter the size - what tracks up there are high banked? i always liked those track the most. like cowtown in fort worth - that sucker is steep. and its only a quarter too. well - ya'll minnesotans take it easy - and i hope everything dries out up there - i mean except the 10,000 lakes of course. lol. hey one more thing - what parts of minnesota have the most racing? i mean north, south, central, east , west? i figured tghe higher the population the more the racing - same thing with a more sparse population. like here in OK - there is almost no racing west of I-35. there used to be 1 track but it went out of business. lanny's other track in lawton can hardly be called a show anymore - thats in the southwest - so we have it mostly along and east of I-35......
