I just wanted to acknowledge these two great people in our Northern California sprint car community for being nominated this weekend into the Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa. This is a huge honor with only 12 people being nominated this year and to have two people from our region is awesome. I greatly admire both of these men for all the great things they do for sprint car racing and I am soo glad that we have them as a racer and promoter in our area and I hope they continue to do great things for many years to come! Here is the article I found about the ceremony...
12 Inductees Announced as NSCHoF "Class of '08"
1/25/2008 - The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame (NSCHoF) is pleased to announce the names of its twelve inductees for 2008. The individuals will be inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame on Saturday afternoon, May 31st, during the nineteenth annual ceremonies on the Marion County Fairgrounds in Knoxville, Iowa. The inductees are:
Drivers: Tony Bettenhausen (Sr.), Glenn Fitzcharles, Brent Kaeding, Johnnie Parsons (Sr.), Earl Wagner, Kramer Williamson.
Owners-Mechanics-Builders-Manufacturers-Car Sponsors: Bob Hampshire, Doug Howells, Gordon Schroeder.
Promoters-Officials-Media Members-Event/Series Sponsors: Louis “Rusty” Espinoza, Dick Jordan, John Padjen.
According to National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation executive director Thomas J. Schmeh, “Nine of the twelve inductees are living, which presents us with another great opportunity to honor people within their lifetime. The 72-member National Induction Committee has done another outstanding job of nominating and electing some of the greatest achievers in our sport. The induction banquet will be a great time to reflect back on the accomplishments of those veterans that have gone before us like drivers Tony Bettenhausen, Sr., and Johnnie Parsons, Sr., and builder/manufacturer Gordon Schroeder. And then we’ll have the opportunity to honor modern era achievers such as multi-time champion drivers Glenn Fitzcharles (United Racing Club), Brent Kaeding (Northern Auto Racing Club, Golden State Challenge Series), Earl Wagner (Knoxville Raceway), and Kramer Williamson (United Racing Club, Williams Grove Speedway), owner/mechanics Bob Hampshire (All Star Circuit of Champions, United States Auto Club) and Doug Howells (American Sprint Car Series), and promoter/sanctioning officials Louis “Rusty” Espinoza (California Racing Association), Dick Jordan (United States Auto Club), and John Padjen (West Capital Raceway, Silver Dollar Speedway, Golden State Challenge Series, California Civil War Series). The induction banquet, to be emceed by Dr. Pat Sullivan on Saturday, May 31, will be a very special event for many people!”
Those seeking more information on the 2008 NSCHoF induction weekend, May 30-31-June 1, are encouraged to visit the museum’s web site at www.sprintcarhof.com. Those seeking more information on the May 30-31 winged sprint car races at the Knoxville Raceway, including the Friday night Masters Classic for drivers age 50-plus, should go to the legendary half-mile dirt track’s web site at www.knoxvilleraceway.com.
Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!
Winged sprintcars = the fastest and most exciting

cgrats to BK.. this is an honor that he well deserves,,although there are the critics, nothing can be said for what he has done for the sport of sprint car racing as well, as helping the new drivers, crew members, and others involved, i am jacked that he is getting into such a well respected hall,,
he has overcome quite a bit of adversity, that has been put in front of him, especially as of late.. and has never faltered in his focus, to be the best and to try and beat the best,,which is something that hasn't really been touched on,,i believe that in itself, is something that alot of drivers would lose focus on,, but he is a true champion, my family and the kaeding family have been "family" forever,, and i am very happy to see him, reach this induction,,,congrats Brent ,i and my pops are proud for you, enjoy, and enjoy those cold silver bullets while in kville! I remember traveling to West Capital back in the very early 70s and both J.P. and his wife were actively promoting super modified and sprint car racing back then. It is astonishing that they continue to promote years later. What a terrific asset for the race fans and both are true racers. Congratulations.
I never had much of an opportunity to watch Brent Kaeding, but I sure did alot with his father Howard. Both father and son, as well as Tim and Bud, have made their name synonymous with racing in Northern California. Congratulations to Brent Kaeding.

I would just like to say the ceremony was really nice.
When they announced all the drivers currently in the Hall Of Fame that were in attendance I was thinking wow what am I doing here there were true racing legends in that room.
I would encourage anybody who can, to attend this event once, you wont be disappointed.

I was thrilled that Doug Howells made it in as an owner/mechanic. You will not find a more humble an unassuming guy. He is still out there running ASCS Plains with his grandson, Lee Grooz

Wow Stumble, it only took you four days to recover enough to post? Nice Job.
Doug was in the pits Saturday night with his grandson racing at Knoxville.
Ditto Stumble's words on those in attendance. Definitely something for sprint car fans to attened once. For diehards, it should be an annual trip.
Here's a picture of one who is in the Hall of Fame with someone who should be there.

Hopefully having his head turned will make it a little bit of a challenge, but I'll find a good t-shirt to give to the first person who posts in this thread, the name of the Hall of Famer.

Ok ROCK, Alex Trebek would've said "be more specific" but I'll give it to ya. R Jones would've worked too.
What size shirt do you want?
Duane, you were there so that's cheating!

As a kid growing up in LA the local TV station KTLA used to broadcast the jalopy races every week. Rufus was a regular and a damn good one. I can still hear Dick Lane yelling "wooooa Nellie" when PJ was working over Termite Snider. Can't remember if that was Ascot or Western Speedway
