Friends of mine attended the 5/17/08 Wilmot Speedway I.R.A.show and only saw hot laps and qualifying but were told by track officials there are no Rain Checks. I was wondering if others were told this also?
Thanks

My understanding was they could be used for the July 5th IRA race.

It was anounced at the track that night as July 5 being the rain check night. It was also in the newspaper. What the promoters should do is offer to anyone that came to the IRA race a free or discounted weekly show night. Try and get more people in the stands and try and make Wilmot some what back to what it used to be.

When I visited Wilmot back in the mid-80's it had some great racing but the facility itself was a run-down dump. Has it gotten any better as the racing has deteriorated?

The problem is the fair board or county owns it? The promoters just rent it. And they pay alot of rent. I think the late Marie Winker spent alot of her own money to upgrade it. Hopefully next year with the rumered new promoters taking it over it will turn around. The track surface has changed also. They put a little bank on it now.
