The sprint invaders rules say 2 3/16 maximum. Their is no .005, .003 or any other measurement allowed beyond the 2 3/16. This is a fact and can be checked at the sprint invaders web site. So if our gauge is larger than 2 3/16 than you are being given more tolerance then even our rules allow. All 8 stacks were checked and all 8 failed with our gauge. SIA tech offered to send the stacks in question to Tommy Estes but the team declined. The team also brought out a second set of stacks that passed, but this was not the stacks that were on the car for the feature. So we can not be sure which set of stacks are being sent to Tommy Estes so we have no choice but to go with our original findings. If Knoxville uses this .005 exception than these stacks probably do pass in Knoxville and that is fine. But Sprint Invaders rules are a little more strict in this instance. We have not changed this rule. It has been the same since our inception. We have never had a set of stacks that failed before except the set on this same car last season. At that time we gave them the benefit of the doubt and asked them not to bring this set of stacks back to SIA. We regret that they had to be d.q. because they had a great race. But it is only fare to everyone that all teams be held to the same standard.
And I would like to repeat that we would love to have Josh at every SIA event. But if he decides to come and race with us he will be held to the same standard that we held him to last time. I'm sure people will find exception to what I have posted but our rules are our rules. Not Knoxville, ASCS, or any other sanctioning body.
