so how many OKC drivers will make the short tow for 4 times what Lanny pays?
I bet the Tulsa area sprinters show up in force despite gas prices - so not sure what excuse OKC area drivers would have for not being there.....................since Ada does step up to provide some real neutral turf for a tulsa vs. okc race...........It would be really cool to see OKC drivers go. this aint really a get off the porch type of thing - we sure love watching the sprinters run on the porch - thats for damn sure.
But it would also be cool to see em go support the best series and best promoters with Oil Capitol Racing Series. So - does anyone know what OKC area drivers are up for the challenge - and an increased purse?

kick ass news. hopefully a good portion of okc area drivers get out and support this show. I dont see how this wont be the place to be come saturday night. for fans and racers alike. Lawton, SFS, BMS.........none pay what OCRS does. I agree with the guys runnin for points at lawton and bms to stay and chase those titles - rock on and go for the championships.
But for the champ sprint drivers at State Fair Speedway Friday and those at other area tracks not runnin for points.............why not make the short tow to Ada? OCRS pays more on the bottom end of their purse than ANY OTHER SPRINT CAR SERIES IN THIS STATE. even the non-qualifiers get twice what sfs pays to START! so it will be awesome to see all the sprinters this week at SFS - but it would be awesome to see them go support OCRS too. The OCRS purse would go much further than any other area sprint tracks in compensating for fuel costs as well as other costs. if our sfs regs make a good showing - there could very well be 30-35 sprinters and maybe more. bottom line -- -- -- THIS IS A SERIES AND SHOW WORTH SUPPORTING - complete with promoters who actually appreciate every car in attendance - and make that appreciation well known as well..........hell dont even take it from me - go watch or race some OCRS shows and see for yourself.
everyone get the word out and try to make your way down to OSP (ada). and bring along some friends and family as well.
Hey JD (porter) - considering proximity I know you will be there - will you be bringin along that fast 71 car as well (along with bad ass driver too)?
Bobby Springer (Just BS of Fantasy Fame) - will you be makin your way to play in the sand?
how bout racers like Kenny Butler Jr. and Sr,? Dusty or Joey Buntin?
How bout Gary Owens - I would think it make much more sense to run closer to home for more money..........
damn there's dozens more I could mention - why not go get a glimpse of a better purse as well as better promoters this saturday at Oklahoma Sports Park with the Oil Capitol Racing Series. does this sound like a sales pitch? lol I just want to see some greatsprint car racing. as well as a Tulsa vs. OKC race on neutral dirt no less.
if us OKC metro area race fans show up in force -------- hopefully OKC area sprinters will follow suit.

This was in the local newspaper today, and I think the sports man will try to run a little something on Friday....
OCRS sprinting to local speedway
ADA — Oil Capital Racing Series (OCRS) Sprint Cars will be at Oklahoma Sports Park this Saturday night for the mid-season preview of the Oklahoma State Sprint Championship Race in September.
"Come see the OCRS Sprint cars race three and four wide at the fastest track in Oklahoma,” said track owner George Welch. “Last Year's September race went 30 Laps with no cautions. “With Oklahoma Sports Park fielding an average of 80 cars per night throughout the regular 2008 season, the addition of the Sprints should make it a night to remember.”
Cost for the special race night this weekend is $15 for adults and $13 for kids ages 11-15 and senior citizens. As always, children ages 10-and-under are admitted free.
For more information about racing at the local speedway, check out the Oklahoma Sports Park Web site at www.oklahomasportspark.com.
This can be found on the Ada Evening News Paper website. http://www.adaeveningnews.com

Gary said he was going to be there. I'll probably miss it since I probably won't have the time to go, so you'll have to let me know how much excitment I miss.

I'm sorry! Wescoe snuck up and caught me LOL. I've been making more appearances up that way this year for a very good reason. I may even make another appearance this Friday as I'm sure we'll still be working in Norman.

You finally met me! Are you happy? Seems like I'm getting caught everywhere now LOL. We were pretty tired so sorry if I didn't seem real chipper.
I have to say the sprint race was great! Ada does have a fast track, and I was amazed at the outcome with all the dirt & sand blowing in our faces. Really figured it was going to turn into a follow the leader race, but it actually brought out the true talent of the drivers with a lot of passing. Awesome job to those guys for putting on a great show! I only have a few problems...For me it's a long drive, and the program needs to go faster. Too much sitting and waiting for one race to start from the next. I understand some of it was over safety issues, and I commend those guys for caring, but many people left a while before the races where even over. Another problem is the traffic jam of having only one pit gate. Is there some way for the cars to exit in turn 3 so the next race can pull on? Now my big question...After the last caution with a green, white, checks left, why did they leave all the lapped cars scattered in the field? Shouldn't they of moved to the back of the pack? It would of made a better finish to see the guys on the lead lap really race to the finish.

It was my pleasure to have FINALLY met you too Christina (still love that name) and your husband and little one. Took us long enough to meet as I think you were one of the original tidbiters when this deal first started. Please tell your husband was my pleasure meeting him too.
It has been only here lately where lapped cars are put to the back on restarts. For the most part, where they were running on the last completed lap is where they would line up on restarts. I kinda like the deal, the bummer is for those cautions (some unnecessary) to come out in the first place when the leaders are just entering lapped traffic. That is what makes races, those leaders having to slice their way through lapped cars.

Yes, I'm one of the original tidbiters!
I guess I've gotten used to the lapped cars going to the back, that I actually enjoy it more to see a shootout to the finish...at least for the green, white, check finish.
