How young is that USAC sprint top 10 at Anderson? The picture of Swanson, Sweet & Santos with the trophy girl, looks like she is their babysitter. Congrats to all the young guns.

Sprint cars are about as hard to drive and set up as a video game and nearly as safe. Jud Larson, Vucky, Jimmy Bryan and their likes would never make it in today's world as sprint car drivers. The world is big dynamic marble. I remember when sex was safe but racing was dangerous, men had tatoos, women wore earings and several other bumper stickers that are statements of the changes.

Do ya think a 130# kid could turn a sprint car on dirt track with churnin' knobbies jumpin' through the ruts and holes without power steering? Do you think mama would let him race in a cageless sprinter in a time when "few died in bed"? Do you think he would be accepted by a bunch of die hard daredevils to take a swig from the pint being passed about? Different time for sure.
