Is it just me or has this board's page load time slowed down dramatically in the last few days? It has never been the swiftest with regards to loading pages but this week it is taking about 17 seconds per page load - nearly three times longer than normal. It's not my ISP as I have a VERY quick DSL Pro connection and every other site I visit loads pages in the blink of an eye (nearly). Even if I leave the site or close the browser tab it takes long time to release the current page to load the new site. Anyone else noticing a slowdown of this board's speed?

Mine has slowed to a CRAWL! Exact same symptoms as you describe. My biggest problem is when using Firefox. I switched over to IE7 for comparision and it was better but still slower than it had been. I ran scans, deleted cookies and all that without success. Glad to know it's not just me but it still sucks....

I know it's not my connection. All other sites load very quickly. Just the last few days this board has been like it's running in slow motion - like I said it averages 17 seconds for a page to load - it used to take about 5 to 7 seconds - still not real fast to load but lately it seems way more sluggish than normal. I'm still using Firefox - you couldn't pay me to use IE.

I haven't noticed any significant slow down here. Using cable connection.

If I logout and browse as a guest, the board is normal. As soon as I login, it crawls.

All is fast on my end with firefox and IE 6 and IE7. I also checked the server and database server and all is good both are running at an average of less then 5% CPU usage.
Are you running a real time virus scanner? try turning it off and see if the forum loads faster? You might need to allow hoseheadforums.com in your virus scanner settings or cookie settings. If you have cookies blocked or not allowed it will make your page load slow.
In Firefox it shows you at the bottom left of the browser what is loading. When the page is slow what does it say is loading?

You can also use the dialup link http://www.hoseheadforums.com/forumDU~forumId~1.htm
The dial up link is a scaled down page which loads about 3 times faster then the broadband link.

The only difference is that the text editor at the bottom of the page loads when you are logged in. The text editor uses javascript.
What version of Firefox or IE are you using?

Firefox 2.0.0.14 here - I'm also a poweruser - perhaps there's an issue with stripping the ads? The main Hoseheads page with all of its graphics loads twice as quick as the forum. Again this issue just started early this week and every other site I visit loads with normal speed - just this message board is slowwww.

It is a setting on your computer or browser. The pages load extremely quick for me under 2 seconds. And as other users have stated above that it loads fast for them.
It is not a problem with removing the ads since the ads are just not shown when you login.
Did you try the dialup page http://www.hoseheadforums.com/forumDU~forumId~1.htm
Does the dial up page load faster?

Firefox 2.0.0.14 here also. It's not an issue of traffic, you can't tell from looking at the lower left to see what is trying to load, it's usually just showing the http: link where you are clicking to go or "Waiting for www.hoseheadforums.com". The browser is completely stalling, I can't scroll up and down while waiting and the little spinner at the upper right completely freezes. The dialup page seemed better, but it acted like a problem loading things from pagead2.googlesyndication.com. Everything everywhere is fine, it's just this board and only when logged in that I have a problem.
I am NOT a Power User.

Ok, I think I've narrowed my issue down to a component in AVG Free 8.0 Anti-Virus called "LinkShield". If I disable this component, my speed returns. Enable it, crawls.
Phil, are you by chance using AVG Free 8???
