I was looking forward to buying and watching the Little 500 on mustseeracing.com. However, the race is tape delayed 24 hours and cost $19.95. What a rip. Who is going to pay $20 for a race when we already know the winner. How about show the race live and charge $20. You will bring in over triple the audience (maybe more). Am I way off base here? What do you think? I may pay $10 for a tape delay race but not $20.
This is from the track press realease:
"Starting with the USAC National Sprint Cars featured in the 9th Annual Glen Niebel Classic – Banjo 100 event on Wednesday and concluding with the 60th Pay Less Little 500, all events will be shown on mustseeracing.com on a taped delay basis".

Live TV SUCKS for the fan who is there.
It is not fair to the paying fan to have their races ran at the direction of some TV people.

I don't think that the internet presentations of racing has the same command of the program as a live televised production.

Our company, race/network, streams races LIVE over the Internet. We will be streaming both days of the Knoxville Midget Nationals June 20-21, 2008 along with the 360 and 410 Sprint car programs those nights and both days LIVE are under $20.00 total. Our On-Demand re-broadcasts range from $3.00 - $6.00.
Check out http://www.racenetwork.tv for more information.
The one poster is right, the Internet streaming of races live do not dictate the running of the program for the fans there live. The way we work our feeds is by basically turning our cameras on once the cars hit the track for practice and we do not shut off til after the checkered flag... no matter if that is 3, 4, 5+ hours of LIVE shooting. Our 2-day Western World coverage from last Nov was over 10 hours total.
We cannot speak on what another company is charging, everyone has their reasoning for setting pricing where they do. But we can point out that streaming is not an inexpensive undertaking and especially if you are doing it LIVE. There are a ton of factors to push any broadcast live, but we are trying to keep costs down to the consumer so they try our service and see how neat it is to actually have the opportunity to watch some of these great races that the fans would otherwise not see.
Now nothing will replace watching the races in person, and we encourage all to do so and support their local tracks, but we also realize $$$ has gotten tight and with the cost of gas going thru the roof that many of these trips to different tracks might be out of the question now... so we bring you this alternative to have the ability to watch these races and not just get posted results after the fact.
Check the race/network site often as we are in negotiations with many tracks and organizations right now to firm up our complete summer and fall LIVE racing schedule.
Also, we are the official partner of Knoxville Raceway to deliver streaming highlights of their weekly racing program all year. Every Thursday night we upload the past Saturday night's racing action for all to watch FREE. All you have to be is a registered member of http://www.racenetwork.tv (which is also free).
And for those who want to catch the edgiest talk show on the Net... tune in for Free every Tues. night 9:00-11:00pm to the Jack Slash show LIVE with Sean Buckley and Dean Mills.
Enjoy & Thanks!

streaming live video is one thing, announcing BEFORE the races when the stops for commercials will be, and the green flag for the A-Main several hours later than needed, ect is the crock of shit for the PAYING fans who drove or flew to a race.
TAPE DELAY is far superior for the attending fans than live TV.
The ONLY thing live TV does is increase the costs for everybody. from the grandstand to the front chute.

By your train of thought, I would have been out of business a long time ago. My videos are at least a week old before they are available for sale, and yes everyone knows who won the race. Somehow, thank God, people still have an interest in purchasing them.

Nothing beats watching a race live. If you really enjoyed a live race the natural thing to do is purchase either on-demand or a DVD to watch at your leisure. I don't see those competing against each other. I appreciate Dirtvision and Racenetwork.tv doing live events I don't have the option to see otherwise. Neither one interferes with the racing program (unlike a Cup race which is run by the TV directors). Watching Jerry Coons Jr come through the field and win from the back row at Manzanita last year on racenetwork.tv had me on my feet cheering him on from my living room! Would I rather be at the track? Yes, but when you have to work the next day and the race is 500 miles away-the online broadcasts are the way to go.
