To my knowledge the Pikes Peak Hill Climb doesn't have a class that they fit in any more. Although any of them could run in the unlimited class and get spanked by Tijima (new record holder).

They race as the "Championship" class with the CHCA (Colorado Hill Climb Association) about 5 times a year. The next race is in three weeks at Monarch, CO if they can clear the snow up there. Then outside of Cripple Creek, CO in June.

"look at the left rear on that yellow sprinter." I think they expected snow near the top of the mountain.

I remember reading about when these cars were the fastest thing on Pikes Peak. I think the Unser family were the fastest of them all. That was until Audi decided that it was a good place to showcase their Quattro all wheel drive system. I guess now the road tractors are the big draw now.

I believe the Unsers had walnut shells in the compound of the rubber for the tires also.

Those are called Pike's Peak Specials...made by Goodyear. As much as these guys talk about em I am not sure they are even made anymore or where you could get em. Pretty specialized stuff.

They, along with the story were part of the display at the Hall of Fame when the Unser family was the honored display.

The tires really looked funny up close, gues in their daythey must have worked, the Unsers were pretty quick up the little hill.
