410 Sprint Showdown!!!!
One of 34 Raceway's biggest 410 Outlaw Sprint events goes trackside this Friday, May 9 as the best in the region do battle on the high banked 3/8 mile clay.
The car's and star's of the uper-Midwests' premier regional 410 traveling group, the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series invades 34 Raceway for the first time ever. Last May's initial attempt fell victim to rain with a star-studded field having to wait an entire year to try it again.
34 Raceway kicks off a two-day Iowa swing for IRA as the series heads west to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday, May 10, for their annual IRA -vs- Knoxville 410 Shoot-out. IRA is led by series two-time defending champion Travis Whitney of Minnesota. Australian born, Skip Jackson, a multi-time Knoxville track Champion, leads the always strong Knoxville contingent. Skip was victorious last September in 34's first actual 410 race in nearly 10 years.
A solid winged 410 car count and cars from atleast five states are expected!!! Mod Lites (dwarf cars) and 3/4 Midgets also will appear on the race card.
Friday night, May 9....Sprint qualifying begins at 7pm with racing action to follow. Come watch 34 Raceway track record fall in what should be a great prelude to the recently announced July 30 visit to 34 Raceway of the World Of Outlaws. Many of these same competitors will be looking to get a handle on the 34 clay in preparation for the big WoO event. However, the May 9-10 IRA/Knoxville matchup is certainly the hottest open wheel ticket of the spring.
Don't miss out on earch-shaking, ground pounding 800 horsepower thunder of the region's best 410 sprinters' at 34 Raceway on Friday and Knoxville Raceway on Saturday!
July 30 World of Outlaw Sprint Series may be purchased by calling SLS Promotions at 815-344-2023 or 34 Raceway office at 319-752-3434 ALL SEATS RESERVED***LIMITED SEATS AVAILABLE!!!

34 Raceway is our plan B if they can't race at the Jackson Speedway this Friday. We're so sick of rain and snow that we vowed to drive until we find a Sprint Car race.

I would expect around 40 410's. I went by there a few weeks ago, and the place looks real nice. Looking forward to seeing a race there!

34 Raceway IS an awsome place to see 410 sprint car racing. Back in the day when they had a few shows a year they were cutting low 12 second laps! That record should easly fall friday night! Hope the rain stays away for it. I know the owners will do what ever they can to put the show on!

i'd make it you're plan A. going to a 360 show doesn't count as a Sprint Car race.

Sometimes it's better to remain silent, rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt. Too bad you chose the latter........

It's all a matter of perspective. Some of my childhood heroes are enshrined in the HOF. They never drove a car in their entire career that was as fast as today's 360's. Speed isn't everything and I'll see the IRA plenty of times this season.
Jackson is looking good if they don't get any more rain and it's 202 miles. Burlington is 365 and the R percentage is already up to 50% for Knoxville. We're panning on heading to Jackson, getting a room and watching the weather on Saturday. If Knoxville is a go we head south and if it's not we'll head home in the hopes they can get the Cedar Lake opener (Late Models and Mods) in.
And if everything washed out I'll rent a %$#@in' movie for the sixth Saturday night in a row.

This will a awesome show for the fans and the racers. Just wondering Does kevin doty still hold the fast lap record in the cahill sprinter at 34? I would also like to thank Amy and Jeff for making this all happen. Brett Metcalf

Well, during the five weeks of rainouts I have been enduring the wife's chick flicks hoping that by showing my sensitive side I might get lucky. Unfortunately after all these years of marriage she's not easily fooled.
Last weekend I took her to the VFW for the salad bar and nightly special but that didn't impress her much. I really need to see a race...

Hmmm, no wonder it's not working out for me. I'm kinda' hard of hearing from all these years of racing. I thought I heard "play hard to get some." So that's what I'm doing wrong...
