whos's gonna cancel first? i say that Charter is already cancelled in their minds, but won't announce it 'til Saturday late morning. Knoxville will at least try to get it in but will cancel either late Friday or early Saturday morning. so my prediction is the first OFFICIAL cancellation will be Knoxville, although i believe that Charter is already UNOFFICIALLY cancelled.

That will be exciting race to see who cancels first and my guess it will be the only racing going on!

exactly when would you like to be notified? If they cancel a day or two before the race, you're upset that they didn't try to get it in. If they wait until they are SURE they can't make it happen, you're mad that they didn't tell you sooner. Don't you think that the IRA and Knoxville people want to get the race in too?

well Sunday is supposed to be real nice. if they really wanted to make it happen, they should have a rain date scheduled for Sunday. plus NAPCAR is on tv Saturday night, so those fans won't come anyway.

The promoters are really in a no win situation. Looking at the radar we all think it will probably rain out. But if by chance the rain doesn't come and the promoter has cancelled, then we want to hang him. Last week at Freeport they had an unusual deal happen. The way I undersatnd it, with all the rain we had during the week the promoter called the WDRL on Friday and told them there was no way they would be able to get the track ready for the Sat night race. The WDRL did the right thing and cancelled their race thereby saving their drivers a lot of gas money. But with all the wind we had Friday and Saturday the track dried out and Freeport went ahead and ran their weekly races. If it had been me I think I would have just stayed closed to avoid a lot of confusion. What are your opinions on that situation?

It's really easy to sit there in your computer chair and say that a Sunday raindate is the perfect situation when you have no idea why there isn't one already in place. Plus, this isn't the Outlaws we're talking about here. A huge majority of the IRA and Knoxville teams have real, income-providing jobs to get to on Monday morning, not to mention the fans. A lot of families don't like to have their kids out that late on a school night. Just because Sunday would work great for you doesn't mean it would work for everyone.

Everyone has an income providing job but if your gonna race in a traveling series u should be willing to move things around otherwise maybe those ppl should stick to a local series?

Willingness to move things around, and the cooperation of an employer to accommodate short notice vacancies are two different things......... The IRA schedule already requires approx. 10 days off of a "normal" work schedule. And remember that you're talking 3-4 guys per team that would have to re-arrange their schedules and two sanctioning bodies involved. Not to mention track employees.........
How many vacation/sick/personal days off does the average person on this board get?
And don't forget that my comments are based strictly on employment/work issues, and don't take into account any family concerns involved.

I'll resist the urge to take a political stance on that statement and remind you that, no, EVERYONE does not have an income providing job, but I'll just clarify my original point. When I said that a majority of the IRA and Knoxville teams have jobs to get to on Monday morning, I was pointing to the fact that this is not the WoO where getting from track to track is their main purpose in life.
As for the IRA and Knoxville being traveling series, one could argue that as well. Knoxville is an easy, obvious argument. The IRA has scheduled fewer events away from the Madison/Milwaukee area this year specifically to cut back on traveling, for the teams that are from that area anyway, which most of them are. Raindates, if they are available, are generally set way ahead of time so that everyone can plan for the work days they will have to miss, either in part or entirely. That's just the way it has to be.
If you know of options for a 410 local series, I'm sure people would be interested. (And don't say Wilmot!)

what's wrong with having it early Sunday afternoon when it's gonna be really nice. that way, they'd "be assured" to get it in. no one said anything about a late Sunday night show. that would make no-sense. and if that doesn't work for you either, STAY HOME!

The County Expo beat them both.
Tonight's TechSquad MSA Sprint Car Race at Mantitowoc is cancelled due to the weather.

Thinking of Wilmot-They have "Test-N-Tune" scheduled tomorrow night if all other racing options rain-out...

If it rained at the track at Wilmot like it did 3 miles east of there today, it may be under water. I sure would hate for the mods to miss there spin out practice.

Mooner: If that wasn't so disgustingly true ....it'd be even funnier than what it is ....

Yeah, it's gonna have to take Charter, Knoxville and Plymouth to all cancel to cruise to Willy. Totally a last resort kinda deal.
Not too worried about which race to attend, it's which one is NOT gonna cancel and drive in that direction...
