By Gary Thomas
Placerville, CA – April 27, 2008…John Padjen Motorsports & Civil War Sprint Car Series Director of Communications Bill Sullivan will be a featured guest this coming Tuesday on the Full Throttle Racing show hosted by John Katich. The Full Throttle Racing Show is presented every Tuesday night at 5pm west coast time on http://www.dirtvision.com
Katich and Sullivan will preview and discuss the upcoming “Family Chevrolet Tribute to Al Hinds” Civil War Series event, which will be held this coming Saturday night May 3 at the Placerville Speedway. In addition to talking about the Tribute to Al Hinds, Sullivan and Katich will also discuss how the California Civil War Series is doing this year and what is in store for the traveling circuit over the coming months.
The Tribute to Al Hinds honors the late promoter of Placerville Speedway and friend to racing who passed away five years ago leaving behind a large legacy in the local motorsports scene. Just weeks after Hinds’ passing in ’04, Sullivan teamed up with Family Chevrolet and the Tribute to Al Hinds became a reality. The event has grown into one of the biggest single night 360 races in California over the last few years.
Ever since he was a young child Sullivan had known Hinds due to fact that he was a close friend of the Sullivan family. “Al was really a mentor to me when I began doing media relations for Placerville Speedway in 1991 and ultimately announcing in ’98,” Sullivan said. “I just want everyone to know how important this event is for a small community like Placerville and it’s crucial to recognize someone who was really a pioneer of the sport.”
This year’s edition of the “Family Chevrolet Tribute to Al Hinds” will be the fifth running of the event and the winner of the 30 lap feature will receive a stout $3,000. New for this year will be the inaugural "Al Hinds Sprint Car Show and Shine and BBQ,” which will feature over a dozen different drivers and cars on hand from 10am to 1pm at Family Chevrolet & Cadillac in Shingle Springs. Complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers will be featured as well as various drivers available to rub elbows with before the big evening of racing held later that day.
In addition to doing media relations for John Padjen Motorsports, Bill Sullivan is also the Public Relations representative for Penngrove’s Alissa Geving, who is the youngest female sprint car winner in the nation. In addition to those titles he is also the PR rep for the Placerville Police Officers Association's annual hangtown destruction derby, which is held for charity.
