Bud Kaeding finishes 8th at Tulare Thunderbowl
By Gary Thomas
Tulare, CA – April 26, 2008…Just one week after picking up his first Golden State Challenge Series win of the season, Campbell’s Bud Kaeding returned to action Saturday at the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway and recorded an eighth place finish in the 30 lap feature.
Going into Saturday’s GSC event at the Thunderbowl Raceway Kaeding sat fifth in the point standings, just one digit behind Tyler Walker for fourth. The 28 year-old racer began the night by timing in 13th fastest with a lap of 13.640 around the 1/3 mile clay oval aboard the Alviso Rock, Kaeding Performance No. 29.
The qualifying time put Kaeding on the front row of his heat race and on the start he blasted into the lead. The Thunderbowl Raceway surface was hooked up despite the warm day time temps and the veteran driver charged on to pick up his second Golden State Challenge Series heat race win of the year.
The lower than hoped for qualifying time stuck Kaeding back in the 13th starting spot for the main event however and he was forced to work hard in the 30 lap contest. The driver of the BK Motorsports, K & N Filters Maxim worked the high scary side of the Thunderbowl Raceway during the main event and made his way up to eighth by the checkered flag to score his seventh top 10 finish of the GSC season.
This coming weekend will find Kaeding and the BK Motorsports team competing in two night’s of 410 sprint car action. Friday night will find the black No. 29 in competition at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico during a Feather Falls Casino weekly point event.
Then on Saturday he will make the haul to the American Valley Speedway in Quincy for the 10th race of the Golden State Challenge Series season. Kaeding competed in Quincy during August of 2006 and brought home a second place finish behind father Brent in the main event.
