In the heats: Spencer (from last) behind Pombo in Heat 1; Jones (from last) behind Ballard in Heat 2; Miller nipped Ford for second (after Ford had led most of the way) in Heat 3.
Total of 27 cars starting the heats. Jack Gardner announced as co-promoter. Main stands pretty full; side stands sparse. Track condition good, but lots and lots of watering and regrading to keep it that way. V'ville is a quarter-mile soup bowl.
Very good announcing with Brad Doty doing color, and excellent interviews of the top eight starters (in the stands right in front of the crowd), as well as Tony Simon and Jimmy Oskie.

Spencer Jones
Wilson led from the start through several yellows with Spencer tearing through the field. Miller led briefly at about lap 24 (there's no scoreboard), then Spencer, but Spencer's engine went ratty during a yellow. He tried to restart, but it was really sour, so he pulled in. Miller led the rest of the way with Jones closing to second after Wilson's car expired about lap 32.
