Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders to Kick Off 7^th Season (Again) Saturday!

(Bill W) April 16, 2008 – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders Association will kick off their 7^th season at the 34 Raceway near West Burlington, Iowa this Saturday night! A first attempt to start the season April 11 at the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois succumbed to the elements.

34 Raceway has been host to fourteen Sprint Invaders events over the years. That is the second most for one track in series' history. The 3/8 mile banked oval has hosted some entertaining racing over the years, and this weekend should be no exception! The fire-breathing high horsepower sprinters always put on a show at 34!

If you are betting, you may want to pick a veteran out of the field! Matt Rogerson of West Burlington is tops on the Sprint Invaders feature wins list at 34 Raceway on the strength of four trips to victory lane. In 2005 alone, Matt was on the front stretch at the end of the night on three occasions. Jerrod Hull, another veteran out of Sikeston, Missouri, is next with three wins. Jerrod last won at 34 on July 3, 2006. Hull also tops the all-time Sprint Invaders winners' list with eleven. Both are expected to compete on Saturday!

Others who have won in Sprint Invaders competition at the facility and are expected Saturday include hometown veteran John Schulz and young up and comer, Matt Sutton. The Macomb, Illinois driver can start a winning streak, as he took the final event of 2007 at 34 Raceway, leading the distance and topping defending series' champion, Kaley Gharst, Schulz, Bobby Mincer and Jeff Mitrisin.

Pit gates are slated to open at 4:30 p.m., with grandstands opening at 5:00 p.m. Racing is slated for 7:00 p.m. Adult grandstand tickets are $15, with Seniors admitted for $13, and students $11.

Heartland Harley Davidson/Buell of Burlington will be hosting the Sprint Invaders car show on Friday night before our 2008 opener at Burlington’s 34 Raceway (4/19).

In keeping with the Sprint Invaders theme for 2008 “The Year of the Fan”, there will be drawings for several prizes. 34 Raceway has donated 8 passes for the following nights event. There will be a few T-Shirts given away and balloons for the young Invaders.

Come on out to see the “2008 Winged Sprints” and visit with your favorite drivers and crew.
