We could never find enough of them!

This unopened kit just sold on E-bay for $30! I always wondered how Ken Hailey got a model of his car (and later wondered where that V8 came from?)

OH YEAH, I forgot you can't just cut and paste, you've got to insert pictures!

Oh yea !!! The Edmunds Super Modified. I must have built 4 or 5 dozen. My Mom, Bless her Heart took me to every TG&Y Store in OKC so I could find one.
I made, and back in the day presented on the infield stage hand painted and hand lettered cars to the likes of Harold Leep, Jackie Howerton (Angie's Kid), Benny "Wahoo" Taylor, and Larry Holman among many others.
I even had Mom buy Model putty so I could form the tail tank covers to match the actual cars.
The cool think about it was at the age of 10 or 11 I'm sure the paint job and hand lettering were pretty crude, but each and every Driver I presented a car to seemed to be very appreciative.
I guess the moral to the story is
Price of a model $10.00
Price of Paint and Supplies $20.00
Price of a Child building a Race Car (no matter what class) and presenting it to thier favorite Driver!
PRICELESS

Well but uncle a!!!!!! I too have built many of that paticular model. In fact I still have my Harold Leep car, the John Schippert Homes sponsered #4 of Grady Wade and a #7 of Royce Harlan that I built. My first car was Melvin Rogers #3 which I presented to him, I still have the picture of me giving it to him.

It must be pretty quick. He came and borrowed a torch to burn the motor down. I figured it was for you.
Sorry that wasn't right. It WAS funny, but not right.

I had yours built and man, was it race ready. I even had the Set-up the way you like it. But when I went to push start it on the kitchen table, a rod went right thru the block and the Right Rear fell off.
If you need any help Friday look me up.

Ours didn't fall off, the wheel center broke. Glad we still have a car and glad that the wheel and tire didn't go into the stands

I saw that first hand, I was standing at the rail right where he stopped and I thought that the tire was going to come over the fence and take me out. Was that a Sanders?

Yes it was a Sanders but in the defense it was around 5 years old. We now have a new Sanders on the Right Rear and I will be buying some new wheel centers
