Murphy Lays Down The Law In Bandit/VRA Competition!

Hanford, CA - April 15, 2008…Blues legend B.B. King has a song titled "The Thrill Is Gone." It's too bad B.B. wasn't in attendance to witness Peter Murphy's flawless drive to victory last Saturday at Kings Speedway.

The Clovis, California pilot was absolutely unstoppable in Round #1 of the Bandit/VRA Grand Slam Sprint car competition.

Peter, who is coming off of a convincing win on April 5th at Bakersfield Speedway in Bandit 360 non-wing Sprint car action, carried that momentum into Saturday's show.

You could feed off the intensity of the race that was being put out by Team Tarlton crew-member Jason Wheelock. He wanted the win as bad as Peter, and you could see the fire in Jason's eyes.

If one were to look up the definition of "Murphy's Law" it basically means this: "if anything can go wrong, it will"

But that's not Peter Murphy's belief. To him, "Murphy's Law" simply means this: "I will stand on the gas and give it my all for my team, sponsors, and fans lap after lap!" And that's exactly what Peter did last Saturday night on the 3/8 mile at Kings Speedway.

Peter is no stranger to the Kings Speedway surface. In 2007, he won 6 SCRA main events, with 4 of those wins coming on back-to-back weekends. He was also crowned the 2007 series champion.

In Heat race #2, Peter put on an absolute driving display. He intensly slid into his 8th starting spot, and when the green came out, he methodically moved forward. He was able to take the car to the top or move to bottom of the race track, picking off cars at every opportunity. Peter eventually won the race going away.

As main event cars rolled to the straitaway, Peter walked to turn #1, to check out the racing surface. He must have seen something he liked.

At the drop of the green, he sat back and bid his time. When the time was right, he started his attack. Lap-after-lap, he started picking off cars, just like he had in his heat race.

The Paul Baines and Blaine Steele wrenched Tarlton & Son, Inc., Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, Kaeding Performance, Ridgeline Framing, Sharp Insurance, VMAC, BR Motorsports, Fresno First Bank, Pro Signs, #21 Maxim was on fire!

On lap-12 of the intense event, he wrestled the lead away from the leader and never looked back, and for his efforts brought home back-to-back Sprint car wins.

"I'm really happy to win this race," Peter explained after his win. "I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series."

Peter Murphy will be going for three straight victories this Saturday April 19th at Santa Maria Speedway. He will be piloting Tom Tarlton's familiar Black #21 in Bandit Sprint car action.
