Huset’s Speedway Changes for 2008

Here’s what I’ve been able to gather for Huset’s in the 2008 season.

Action will begin each night at 7pm sharp. The goal of track officials is to start at that time, which should wrap up the entire show at some point between 9:30 and 9:45. That will allow fans and team members alike to get out of the facility and get some sleep before the work week begins.

The Outlaw Sprint division will return to the use of time trials for 2008. Qualifying will be first up each night at 7pm. Each car will receive one qualifying session, using that time to base their line up positions for the night.

The Outlaw Sprint competitors will also be gunning for the Dollar Loan Center Cup, where the champion will receive $10,000 and an illustrious trip to Las Vegas, courtesy of Dollar Loan Center.

Back gate pit passes will be $25 dollars each. There is no car registration fee, no pit stall reservation fee and no draw fee.

Championship Sprint and Outlaw Sprints will not need to pay a sanction fee.

Tickets for weekly shows will be $12 for adults and $5 for juniors. Kids are still free. And, to keep the cost down for families, a family value pass will be available each week at a reduced rate. Additional front and back gate revenue is going into the purse for the night, however I do not have the specifics. If you must know, I suggest calling the track office and identify who you are and what team you are with.

Also, Huset’s is working on several events in which discounts and free tickets will be available for fans, such as the “beef night” of past years, and the possibility exists once again for a “Patriot Night” where all fans are let into the event for free.

Headlining the 2008 schedule is three visits from the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws, the first date is April 25! Plus the return of the USMTS.
Also, a date has just been inked to bring in the All Stars Circuit of Champions.

With a 720 mile round trip drive for the Sunday night races and a boss who expects me to be at work by 7:30am on Monday, I have always admired Husets on time starting, and will appreciate the half hour earlier starting time ecen more.

I have also enjoyed the hard work the track does on getting free tickets for the fans, I have used them several times.

When the Green Flag drops, the BS stops, lets go racin!

Sounds like they got some good things going there. What is the payout for the sprints, 410 and 360? Anyone know?

How about a full breakdown of the payout for the points system? Is it $10,000 for 1st and $800 for 2nd?

I take it there still are no changes to the nightly purse.

$12 for a weekly event... This might be worth it if Lasoski/Forbrook show up.

Don't go if you don't think it is worth it!

I see the All Stars schedule have them there on the 3rd of August but the Huset's schedule doesn't. Anyone know the facts?

For Wertz... Like many tracks, the exact breakdown is still unknown for second through tenth. It will likely be that second will recieve something like what first used to receive. (example, Mark Dobmeier took home $2500 for the 2007 championship)

But that can all change, depending on additional sponsorship money and products. So if a business were willing to donate $9,000 for the runner-up, it could pay that... let's say we could call it the Wertz Designs Runner-Up Award. And maybe they could get free shirts for the next year. Smile

And yes, the All Stars date is August Third! Should be a great first time event, and I think the Midwest All Stars are off that weekend too. Hopefully those teams can make the pull to Eagle and Huset's for the weekend.

I'd pay $15 to watch the 'doc' try to get out of his own way. Wouldn't you?

The All Stars race at Husets is a prelude to some big things to come for Midwest Sprint Car Racing.

Thunder Through the Plains with the All Stars now has a four day swing with Bellevill and Mayetta, Kansas and Eagle and Husets.

Whoopie.....its not the Rubins putting up any money. Still stealing sponsorship dollars from the race teams. It just behooves me how the PR machine for Husets runs like a rusty windmill. With the 20% increase at the admission window we should expect the same for the purse. Along with the back gate gouging they should almost double the purse.

Wertz you can pay $15 to watch the Dud and Forbrook, I won't and you can have a private showing. PS Quit setting up Doc's car.

Some of you morons in here should think about how you continualy whine about promotors. If you keep knocking them on the head it's possible you might actually wear them out to the point they say "F..K" 410 sprintcars lets race stock cars around our track. It will be at that point you morons will get back on here, piss & moan about how there is no 410 sprint racing for you to go & watch ... I'm an avid sprintcar fan & the most you could do for our sport is to piss off & not knock the people down who provide the facilty for you to watch it.... because it's dopes like you who ruin it for everyone else ...In my opinion if promotors make a shit load of money doing what they do, well good luck to them...if it was easy then I guess the likes of the dopes in here would own race tracks & not be sitting behind a screen sucking soda pop & eating twinkies getting a fat arse pissing & moaning at every point they can .... what you should do is give your promotor a call & ask what you can do to help them before next Saturday night, you might actually wear that fat arse down ...promoting is a shitty, hard working business .....

now getting down off my box ....

I would guess that if Huset's would just post a honest and respectable purse for the upcoming shows that all the race drivers and fans could plan accordingly. Huset's has failed to promote in the past so I am thinking they could care less who makes plans to attend there shows! They still have the faithful crowd from the Sioux Falls area who attend weekly.

$12 is ok with me. Grand Forks,ND is $12 in advance, $15 at gate. Similar shows--Outlaws sprints and Outlaws late models versus Outlaws sprints and 360 sprints. Both tracks put on great shows. I'm not crazy about the time trials at Husets this year, but whatever. Glad to see the All Stars coming and 3 WoO shows. Gas will cut my trips from Fargo to Husets to the 4 big shows and no more than 3 Regular Sunday night shows. Grand Forks is only 68 miles so will make all of them.

Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

How , at RCS, did you get yours for $12, mine were $13 in advance, $16 at the gate when we were running late! Funny thing about this whole debate is, when I lived in Sioux Falls and went to the stands the few times I wasnt pitting between 1998 and 2001, the admission was 10 bucks! Went there last summer for a regular race, the admission was... yep, 10 bucks! Hmmm... the people at Husets have had it made for a long time, just don't realize it. Another funny thing is, Husets pays double to win what RCS does in the 410s.

Jeff24, I am not bashing you at all by the way... RCS puts on a whale of a show every week. It is the same for you as it is for me, it is only 68 miles to see good racing. I just really miss 2 classes of sprints over one class and the late models... which are a good show, but I would much prefer the 360s as a support class....my point is that the people that complain about the prices that Husets will be charging for what they will be watching is ridiculous. 10 days til racing starts!!!!

Would rather not sit thru LM's, IMCA type modifieds or Hobbys ... but the promoters must pad their back gate with these classes to keep the front gate prices reasonable. That is why Knoxville is the best deal PERIOD for pure sprint car enthusiasts weekly.
