Knoxville Raceway This Weekend!
(Bill W) Perhaps the most exciting year of racing in the history of Knoxville Raceway is upon us! This weekend the 2008 Knoxville Championship Cup Series kicks off with Pizza Hut/Lions Club Night! Several prominent 410 drivers are either arriving or returning to action at the Knoxville Raceway, and intend on giving defending track champion, Brian Brown, all he can handle in his defense of the Cup!
Hot on Brian's heels will be the regular cast of drivers including 2006 track champion Billy Alley, two-time track champion Skip Jackson, Calvin Landis, Ricky Logan, 2007 Rookie of the Year Mark Dobmeier, three-time 360 track champion Jake Peters, and many more. Justin Henderson has raced with the World of Outlaws full-time the last two years, and is expected at Knoxville this weekend for the opener. Former WoO travelers Brooke Tatnell and Brandon Wimmer are also expected at Knoxville most nights this season! Kaylene Verville from Arizona and Josh Schneiderman will add to the rookie 410 class as well!
Josh Higday and his car owner, Dwight Snodgrass, will be trying to win their second 360 title in a row in that class! The Des Moines native will be challenged by Bryan Dobesh, Dave Hall, Brett Mather, Ryan Roberts and more in the highly competitive division. Returning to action in the 360 class, are 2006 360 Nationals champion, Jesse "The Bulldogg" Giannetto, and former 410 driver Eric Vanderploeg. Tampa, Florida native and 2007 East Bay Raceway track champion, RJ Johnson, will be making his Knoxville debut in the 360 class as well!
The season opener is always a special time, and a practice session scheduled for Friday night promises to draw many of the regular competitors as well as a World of Outlaws surprise or two!

It looks like maybe rain at Haudstadt on Saturday, if that's the case we'll make the drive to Knoxville. This should be a very interesting year for Knoxville.

Bill, would you please announce the age/relationship rules for the family pack.
I have my 28 yr old son and his wife coming in May, does this allow for adult family or just age restricted kids?
Looks like with the NOS deal and the family pack in conjuction with the fuel give away, a lot of good things sound like they will take place.
Kudos to Brian and the people who allow him to follow through with this effort of promoting an EVENT.
hot laps at 6:45 should be the rule this year, I KNOW it can be done and Knoxville has the right people to make it happen.
Looks like the best promoted season since I started going in 1974, keep up the great work.

I am certain that I am not the only one with the question, so an answer would be much appreciated.
If the answer is right, it could be the best thing they have done in the past 35 years as a promotional tool.
Sure glad my tribe is out of child support payment age now hehehehehe.
I do have to treat them right however, they will be choosing my nursing home.

Did Dusty Zomer Find a motor program? or Find a ride for the season? He is too good of a driver to sit out.

I was told he bought one of his motors back. Whether that was for Knoxville or Huset's, or both, I don't know. I haven't talked to him.

Bill & Duane. My 20 year old grandson just called the track. They told him the family deal for $44 was for 2 adults and 2 kids.
If that's correct I guess it's not that great a deal.

Yes, with a special TWIST! I am hoping to put out all the details either tonight or tomorrow. Bill W and I will be there for ALL Knoxville shows LIVE and...
Opps, not yet...stay tuned. Let's just say, like the Van Halen song from 5150, 'It's the Best of Both Worlds'.
Talk to you soon.

Thank you Bill, It is a smart move on Knoxville's part to allow the late 20's type kids in on the deal.
These "kids" will be having kids (future fans) soon.
IF the parents don't like the races, the kids won't be turning into a fan either.
as far a "Rubinizing" goes, I guess I must be a lucky one, it seems like the Sundays I seem to go, I have a coupon for a free night or something about half the time.
I realise that Rubin seems to have a bad reputation, but in all honesty, they have treated me very well each time I have been there including a free motel one night, a moutain oyster fry another, free sponsor paid for tickets available to the public at other times.
I do hear alot of moans on prices, but in all honesty, I really don't see a whole lot of difference with other venues.
Go to the old Vets Auditorium in Des Moines sometime and get a pop and a corn, you will need a forklift to carry in the money to pay for that!.
