Knoxville Raceway and Hoosier Tire have sighed a three year contract for the right rear. The new SC-12 and SC-15 and SC-20. This is for both 360ci and 410ci. Theese are the same tires the World of Outlaws will be running all year.

Good Year and American Racer, sorry that you been treat with this type of,** Loyalty** rewards..
Seems unfair to me after all the testing and preperation to meet Knoxvilles, tire spec rules this previous season, that you both have been **OUTED**. but it seems we have no options but to cower, to the ** WORLD OF OUTLWS**..............

The Nationals with a tire rule? Oh well, more money for other races.

This tire deal has been offered (by Hoosier) to several series/tracks. $ deals will be passed on to savings for drivers last I heard...

Hoosier, McCreary, and Good Year have all had the same programs on the west coast forever. Its good for the tracks/clubs to have everyone on the same tire. The car owners get a discount price versus retail, and they add usually $10 per tire bought to their points fund.

MOST times the money added to the point fund goes in the promoters pocket as it is not on top of the already said point fund. In all reality the racer pays his own point fund is a round about way.

Volume discounts are nice but wouldn't it be better to allow teams to run any brand tire as long as they meet precise size and hardness requirements?

The way Cappie talked, the tire company will pay Knoxville Raceway an amount per tire.
Knoxville Raceway will in turn give a coupon to each driver each night to be redeemed at thge tire truck.
The guys who run on used tires will be able to give their coupons to the guys that buy new tires and the free enterprise system will be in place.
Knoxville does not have a reputation of ripping off the racers in the past, and I think this tire issue will be a positive situation as well.
As far as the rule being a bad thing, I guess going from an unlimited engine to the 440 then to the 410 was not good either.

I guess you didn't read the post I made very well, also, just curious why a California fan would be concerned about a Knoxville matter.

In case any of you haven't noticed no one has won shit on a non Hoosier Tire for years now. On the flip side the reality stays the same any rule change always cost the racer money.

Thanks for the explanation about the coupons, etc. nodust. It will be interesting to see what kind of response this contract receives after it has been in effect for a while. Hopefully it will be a big success and generate the desired results.

It is my understanding that the Knoxville rules will be the same as the World of Outlaws.
I would hope that all works out for all concerned.
Bottom line is, Knoxville has been strong, but there are many areas of the country where the racers have spent themselves out of business.
When the engines first got a 440 cu.in. rule, the sky was rumored to be falling, now it is 410 cu. in. and the sky is still here, but the costs continue to increase.
The tire rule will only be a temporary solution as the teams will continue to outspend each other.
Maybe lowering the purse is the quickest solution?

What happens when the other tire manufacturers decide to quit producing tires for the sprints? At this rate...they could well do that when sales do not justify production costs. Where does that leave us and how will Hoosiers attitude change if they become the sole producer of our racing tires? Hoosier is doing their job......Slowly eliminating the competition. Me...........I believe in the free enterprise system. Competition is a good thing. Doesn't matter now but going by a minimum durometer would have been just as good.

Then when only Hoosier makes tires and they decide they need to sell them for 10 times what it cost them to make them another tire company will see an opportunity and make sprint car tires and sell them for much less. Then the tracks and series will sign a deal with the new tire company. Its called free enterprise.
