Brett Miller finishes 7th at Bill Brownell Memorial

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – April 12, 2008…Rebounding from an early race spin Chico’s Brett Miller charged back through the field to record a seventh place finish Friday night during the inaugural Bill Brownell Memorial at Silver Dollar Speedway.

The Bill Brownell Memorial marked the second Feather Falls Casino point race of the season at the high-banked quarter-mile and it saw a solid field of thirty-four winged 410 sprint cars in competition. Miller went out 19th in the qualifying order and ripped off an 11.921 putting the Care Free Pools, Platinum Powder Coating Maxim fifth fastest in the field.

He then lined up fifth in his heat race but had a couple issues during it, which put him into the B-main. The 18 year-old then started from the front row in the 12 lap contest and brought home a runner-up finish to transfer into the $3,000 to win main event. Miller got his time back for the feature and started from the eighth position, but a spin early on forced him to restart at the rear of the field.

The Silver Dollar Speedway surface had become very fast on the bottom, which made passing opportunites limited. Miller was able to make headway though and carved his way back through the field to cross the stripe in seventh place after 25 laps of racing aboard the Wolfe Electric, Al’s Concrete No. 1x. Miller and team were utilizing an engine that had a little more horsepower and it was apparent during the evening of action at the Bill Brownell Memorial.

Miller and the Care Free Pools Racing team will be back in Chico this coming Friday for the third round of the Feather Falls Casino 410 Sprint Car season.

Supporting a good cause: The Care Free Pools Racing team is supporting the Butte Humane Society this season by donating a portion of the winnings and sponsor money to them, hoping to gain enough funding for them to build a new facility. The team also has Humane Society T-shirts on sale for $10 at the rig with 100% of the money earned going to the society.

Full Throttle Racing show: Brett Miller was a guest on John Katich’s Full Throttle Racing show this past Wednesday night. To hear the archived broadcast visit
