To everyone who donated money tonight for the person finishing 7th in the B main many thanks These drivers really appriciate it . I'm under the impression that a certain person feels that his toes are being stepped on by the fans for doing this ?? ( I COULD BE WRONG ). I want to make one thing clear no one is trying to step on anyones toes we are just trying to help out the racers and the sport that we all love . So thanks again everyone...

There ya go, some money for the teams that need it the most. I think it's a great deal ALL you guys are doing over there for the teams and I was especially glad to see it was revised to include the B main teams as well. The way it was set up at first looked like the Republicans "trikle down theroy". LOL

Bigfish:

Probably the wrong place to post this, but I had to respond to your recent posts concerning helping the drivers and teams. We took your advise as we were up in Roseville last night (family business) to watch the USAC Western States race. First off it was a good show with something like 20 sprinters in the pits running for some pretty good money. Someone had taken the initiative and sold all 50 laps of the main event @ the very least $50 per sponsor. The lap money was divided up between the first three drivers for each lap of the main event. So the race fans were behind the race. All American Speedway (I hadn't been there since the early 70s) was packed and I was very impressed with the facilities. The track had been expanded prior to the start of last year and it made for good racing. Not sure of the size now, but it has to be bigger than the old 1/4 mile oval. There were two or three support races featuring of course, the stock car set and a short field of Ford Focus midgets along with a youngster group of dwarf type racers. The sprint feature was last and it was interesting to see that most of the crowd remained in their seats following the stock car or early model main. To me that meant it was a sprint car crowd in basically stock car country. Roseville runs a weekly show featuring several divisions of some form or another of stock car racing. Anyway it was a good race and we (my son, brother and I) were behind young Nick Rescino Jr. in his efforts to win the main event. The somewhat controversial Shane Hemiel, driving one of two Kaplan entries, caught Eric Humphries near the end of the race to win the feature. Porter Smith in another Kaplan car took third. Tanner Swanson was impressive after spinning early and coming from the back to place fourth ahead of Rescino Jr. Two things stood out. The Kaplan cars were very impressive (as were the two orange Western Speed sprinters) and the race by Humphries, who must have taken home alot of change maybe having led at least 40-45 laps of the main event. I had never heard of this young man prior to the race but he was impressive holding off the experienced former NASCAR craftsman truck shoe Hemiel for much of the show. After the race we made it down into the pits and found the Rescino camp, where we handed one of the true legends in open wheel racing a $20 bill and told him we wanted to help pay for some of his gas for travel to the track. Both he and his son were very appreciative and made us feel good about our race experience at Roseville. You were right Bigfish, it does feel good to help out a racer!

I think the Ralphie section will forgive us, after all it's in Honor of my dad, Ralph Carlen Clever, right?

My dad, Ralph, used to say watching sprints on asphalt was like watching fish go around in a barrel . LOL He never saw them with these tires though. I was up in Portland for awhile and I saw Mike Bliss run a Sprinter for his first time on that 1/2 mile paved track before they put dirt on it with the Western States group back in 84 or 5. I had seen him in outlaw late models before that and knew he was good. He was spanking the regulars until he got a flat tire. He towed down to the Copper Classic the next year and beat them all and then became Silver Crown champ. He then went and still is where the $$ is. Talent and some breaks have given him a exciting and long racing career, on asphalt.
