the top 5 pt. system is f-n history. useless. the NORMAL system of where your driver finishes is the # you get - is how we will do this THE REST OF THE SEASON. Going back to how it was done the first 3 weeks.
I can realize this could irk the hell out of some people - the changing to this and that and back to that type of thing. But as commissioner I would much rather catch some shit for being inconsistent - than to keep a system that has had the opposite effect of what it was intended to have and is largely detrimental to the league. The argument could be made that it was just bad for this week - and could get better. no it won't. I've literally wasted hours in the past few days looking at a whole bunch of factors - and all suggest that the new pt. system will make things much less competitive. in hindsight - which is always 20-20 - it shoulda been a top 10 in points deal instead of top 5.
I was lookin at the results tonight - Alan Oliva will almost surely be outside top 5 in points after tonight - and just like Smith - it's a NO BRAINER to pick him next week. he'll still be a good pick next week since if he makes the a he will start further up front than other power picks - but under the -5 pt. system - he'll be BY FAR the best pick. damn................ya'll I could go on forever and sit here and type for the next hour and literally prove that this system is junk - but any one of you can see it for yourself if you line up the first 3 weeks vs. this one. the purpose of this point system was to encourage picks outside the top 5 - the true thing it has done and will do is to COMPLETELY discourage picking inside the top 5. We don't need this system - the inversion that SFS uses for their lineups is the singlemost best thing to encourage picking outside the main players................under the top 5 point system - there will be less diverse picks. I'd rather see everyone picking in the top 5 - because then at least it's between 5 - and thats better than what this system will do.
But I'll bite the bullet and just go back with what we KNOW works. and that is - wherever your driver finishes - thats the # of points you get. I accept the blame in screwing with something that was already proven good and effective - and well - fun. As bad an idea to implement this system was - the only thing worse would be to stay with it. it simply promotes everyone to pick between fewer cars (OBVIOUSLY).
Before I even get around to posting results for the dismal week 4 that I helped to create - the top 5 points scoring system is exactly where it should be. IN THE TRASH! - for every week the rest of the season ---------- wherever your driver finishes - thats the # you will get for that pick. in other words - we are going back to how we did it before. back to the basics. I apologize all round for this. to all the players and to the very idea of the league in general. the same format we used the first 3 weeks - is what we are going back to. that format produced 3 really fun weeks. the new format completely ruined week 4. so the hell with it.
