if Hillary or Obama get in, traveling series should flourish again right? If it's Bush's fault for the fuel prices, then if a liberal gets in, gas should be what? $2.25? $2.40? ?????

Gee...Bush = 4000+ Americans dead in Iraq and gasoline near $4. per gallon. Something is wrong and needs to change.
Is McCain the answer??? Or Hillary or Obama???
Maybe the answer isn't here???

I read 2 newspapers a day, plus lots of web sites, and I haven't seen any liberals (or anyone else) blaming Bush for the price of oil. If you're going to base your vote on that issue, you're wasting your time. Oil is going up because:
1) Production is not increasing (and not much more is being found), and
2) Tens of thousands of Chinese and Indians are buying cars because their economies are so good that their wages are going up (unlike here).

You missed the main reason: The Foreign Exchange Rate.
The US Dollar is at it's lowest value compared to many other Nation's currency.
It's at it's slowest value compared to the Canadian Dollar, for example, since the 1960's

Didn't Bush say that the oil revenue we got from Iraq was going to pay for this war? How's that working out? Why aren't we getting that oil from Iraq? If we didn't go there for the oil I sure don't know why the hell we're there wasting 100s of billions of dollars and human life.
The increase in oil prices are just another side benefit from these free trade agreements. Not only do we send our jobs to India and China but their increase in demand is the main reason for the increase in oil prices. Bush is certaily a big supporter of these free trade agreements as is McCain, and to be honest, so was Bill Clinton. What can you do? Invest in foreign markets instead of our own I guess?

I don't know if this is true but, consumption of gasoline has also increased since the price went up?

before I even read any of the rabble that surely has followed this post.
I don't see everyone blaming one person for fuel prices. Sure he could be blamed for bludgeoning the constitution and war profiteering. But the exploding consumption of fuel in both China and India can't be blamed on Bush. This is why I don't consider myself a liberal. A chunk of the reason why our gas price is high is because of our limited refining capacity. environmenatlists in large part prevent more from being built. although I don't think Big Oil wants em too bad - they have managed to post record profits without em.
People who blame Bush for gas prices are just as stupid as those who defend Bush on ---- anything.
Bush shares the same blame as every person in this country for being whores and letting oil producing region pimp us out. Every American should hold our elected official to a high obligation to sway the country more and more away from oil. it can't be done overnight - but so much could be by now. This federal gov't bankrolls and bails out banks who go bankrupt because of shoddy business practices. Why not a few hundred million to bring alternatives to the forefront. We have a ton of smart people that could make it happen without ruining the environment. But this is where the administration, congress, and the entire country is to blame. Much of the power in decision making for this country rests with corporations. A lot of corporations stand to lose big time if we ever get to an alternative fuel source.....................and last I checked - Bush ain;t the only one in bed with em. In one way or another - we all are.
If folks are looking to blame Bush for something - blame him for the stuff that will have the longest impact on all of us. Shattering the checks and balance system we are supposed to have. The constitution has been thrown in the fireplace by this administration. that cannot even be argued by anyone. The fact that Congress and the media hasn;t torched him for it suggests they are just as much a part of the problem. especially the press - ironically - whomever controls the press controls this country (since 300 million americans are the equivalent of 300 million sheep).
If people are looking to blame anyone - it shouldn;t be the government though - or even the press - they need only to look in the mirror. The people we place in power are an immediate reflection of our very own standards. For some reason the rest of the world understands this - that as a whole this country is stupid as hell. We can't make it better until we realize it though. And to do that we have to not only realize but admit that we have made many many mistakes. Then we can start making better decisions and lynch all lobbyists and those who have special interest ----- and probably not shopping wal-mart all the time would help too. This country has sold its soul for cheaper everything. And eventually we will be forced to buy it back at a price that can not even be imagined by the cell phone generation.
it's not liberals. it's not conservatives. Every american citizen should share the burden. Those who keep looking through the glass of party politics just keep furthering the self-destruction of the country. If we stay on this path - we might as well split the country in 2 between libs and conservatives and fight it out. As long as we just pretend to be united -- we can't fix anything. And in direct relation - if the US don't start gettin off oil soon - then we'll end up in a grab-for-all - or basically a war - with china to get the last drops. last I checked nuclear warheads don't care who is liberal or who is conservative. and in best case scenario - neither does poverty. Gas pumps will be closed for EVERYONE. in reality we all want the same thing - decent lives. to preserve that we have to get past party politics on both sides..............we can never do this as long as the press we follow so blindly continue to spin shit one way or the other. and I have no reasonable clue how to address that. the only things I've ever even heard of were very radical. and I prefer reason to that. this country needs about 300 million injections of common sense and reason...........................

wow outside of the fascist contingent most posts were pretty reasonable.
but I forgot to mention a big part of the bullshit - that as oil companies posted record profits - almost a combined 125 billion dollars - they are still receiving close to 20 billion dollars in tax breaks.
The worst fascist ringleader of them all - Exxon - argues that they need to keep getting tax breaks to continue researching - while out of the 40 billion they made PROFIT - they spent a whopping 100 million on research. crunch the #'s - they are willing to spend 1.7% of their profit on exploration - while they insist the american people fund the rest.
And this is one place where senate republicans as well as Bush should be lynched! The House has twice passed a bill that would take those tax breaks away - while the Senate Republicans have blocked the bill both times. King Bush says if the bill ever makes it to him - he will veto it. I don't care how big a fan one is of the republicans - there is flat out no excuse for this. The american people should not fund King Bush's personal retirement plan............................
wow all the good that comes out of Texas. They still have a clause in their state constitution that they can secede from the union. I suggest that they should use it. and then we can deport King Bush and all his loyal subjects there too. But we'll make sure to relocate Cowtown and Devil's Bowl to NORTH of the Red River.

Go Jesse Go. The Iraq War is why we are paying $3.25 for regular and $3.99 for diesel. Mr. Bush has borrowed $500,000,000 to fight a war that was totally illegal and unecessary. He has also added $3,000,000,000,000 to the National Debt by cutting taxes for the rich. Borrowing that money from foreign countries is making the dollar worth less raising the price of all imports including oil.
Fighting a war in a country with the world's second highest reserves of oil makes the speculators go crazy. The thing that we call a futures market allows those speculators to make money $$$$$$$$$ from fear of interupted oil supply. So what does the President do? He feeds those fears for political reasons. He also continues to put oil into the Strategic Oil Reserve when oil is over $100 a barrel.
Is there an end for all of this? Only if there is a new government after the next election willing to make big changes. This includes reducing our spending on military hardware that makes it so easy for our stupid leaders to fight the next war. Raising taxes on the RICH to reduce the $9,000,000,000,000 Federal Debt is another step in the right direction. Why raise taxes on the rich? Because they are the ones with the money. The top 5% of our citizens own more than the bottom 80%.
Yes I call myself a Liberal.

Mr Congress has the money strings not Mr Bush. No money no war. Thats your Senator/Rep and mine that we all just love and vote for every time, because they are just wounderful. As long as we all keep doing that we will have a big pile of shit in Washington getting off calling each other names forever. It don't matter if its Rep or Dem. By the way Obe and Hill billy now are backing off bring the troops home now and wave the white flag. So nothing will change except more taxes. These 3 are the best we could come up with for presedent is sad and how stupid we all are.. Demand on oil will just keep going up and congress will not let oil co do anything but they will bitch about it. Who has blocked the drilling and to build more refinerys. The world is setting the price, congress has a choice take care of the US or do nothing. Guess what they will do. BITCH AND BLAME BUSH and do nothing. Give us more regulations we will soon look like USSR. If the Feds don't get you your state will.
Lets not get stuck on STUPID
