David Lindt, Jr, in the famliar blue #52 returned to victory lane at Petaluma Speedway Saturday night April 5th capturing the 25 lap 360 winged sprint car A-Main event over a 14 car field. Lindt, Jr. took the lead from the 10x of Roberto Kirby with an inside move in turn 1on a lap 6 restart and survived late race traffic to win over Aliisa Geving in the #3x and Rob Johnson in the Pete Belotti #03.

14 cars, cool, cloudy weather, track was rough for the A- Main in the middle groove. No qualifying again - draw heats, Heat Winners inverted by 8 for A-Main

Heat 1 - finish, car #, name (started) - 8 laps

1. #6c, Jeff Parady(2) 2. #19, Art McCarthy(4) 3. #52, Lindt, Jr.(1) 4. #35, Rickey Wright, Jr.(3) 5. #25b, Dustin Baxter(6) 6. #84, Clint Simpson(7) 7. #7b, Brandon Ash(5) - Parady jumps to the lead at the drop of the green flag from his outside front row starting spot followed by Lindt and McCarthy. McCarthy grabs 2nd from Lindt, Jr.with a low move in turns 1&2 on lap 2. Wright, Jr. now pressuring Lindt, Jr. on lap 4 for 3rd as Lindt, Jr, begin t o smoke from the headers. Lindt, Jr. pulls away 3 car lengths as the field takes the white flag and holds off Wright, Jr. to nail down 3rd. Parady wins easily.

Heat 2 - finish, car#, name(started) - 8 laps

1. 6r, Rick WIlliams(1) 2. #01, Richard Bailey (3) 3, #14, Matt Sargent(2) 4. #10x, Kirby(4) 5. #03, Rob Johnson(5) 6. #3x, Geving(6) 7. #19x, Brandon Davis(7) - Williams quickly to the lead from the pole. Bailey grabs 2nd from Sargent with a high side move in turn 2 to get even and then motoring past down the backstretch. Field stretches out and there is little more action as Williams takes the checkered flag 1st.

A- Main - finish, car#, name (started) = 25 laps. - positions 4-8 coould be subject to change as final results were not announced or posted on pit board after race. Final lap saw the top 3 battling for the lead and I was not able to write fast enough to catch these postions 100%..

1. #52, Lindt, Jr.(3) 2. #3x,Geving(12) 3. #03, Johnson(10) 4. #35, Wright,Jr. (1) 5. #25b, Baxter (9) 6. #14, Sargent(4) 7. #19x, Davis(14) 8. #84, Simpson(11) 9. #7b, Ash(13-DNF) 10. #10x, Kirby(2-DNF) 11. #19, McCarthy(5) 12. #01, Bailey(6) 13. #6c, Parady(7) 14. #6r, Williams(8)

Opening lap saw Wright, Jr. jump to the lead over Lindt, Jr. who grabbed 2nd with a low move in turn 1 to pass Kirby. Exiting turn 2 and headign down the backstretch contact between Parady and Sargent sent Parady flipping almost to the entrance of turn 3. Williams with no where to go runs into Parady as he is flipping. Red flag - no one is hurt but Parady and Willians would be done for the night. Total Restart - #35, #10X, #52, #14, #19, #01, #25b. #03, #84, #3x, #7b, #19x - At the drop of the green Kirby and Wright, Jr, are sdie by side. They would stay this way the enitre 1st lap with Lindt, Jr. closely pursuing with Bailey in tow. Lindt, Jr. nails the 2nd spot with an outside move in turn 2 of Wright, Jr. Bailey takes 3rd from Wright with a low move in trun 4 on lap 3 and starts pressuring Lindt, Jr, for 2nd as Kirby continues to lead. Many of the cars are boucning through turn1 and 4 if they enter too high. Sargent has faded to 7th by lap 4. Lap 6 and Bailey's night comes to an end as he coasts to a stop on the backstretch and brings out the yellow. Too bad because the familiar yellow frame and black paneled Bailey Bros. car was fast tonight. Restart Lap 6 - #10x, #52, #03(from 10th starting), #35, #19. #3x, #14, #84, #7b, #25b, #19x - Lindt, Jr. goes low in turn 1 and 2 and takes the lead over Kirby. Kirby and Johnson are now side by side through 3&4. Johnson grabs 2nd from Kirby on lap after a fierce 2 lap battle. Geving is now up to 5th. Yelllow on lap 9 as McCarthy (trying to take the 3rd spot) and Kirby bang wheels going into turn #1. McCarthy bicycles wildly and comes to a stop. He would go off on the hook. Kirby also pulls off during the yellow with too much damage to continue.. Restart Lap 9 = #52, #03, #3x, #35, #84, #19x, #7b, #25b, #14 -Lindt, Jr. takesoff on the restart to resume command. Johnson hits a rut in turn 1 and bounces several times, but saves it. Geving takes advantage and grabs the runner up spot. Ash in the #7b flips in the middle of turns 3& 4 to bring out the red and negates the Geving pass. Lap 9 restart and Lindt, Jr. again resumes the lead followed by Johnson and Geving. Lap 12 and Johnson applies pressure to Lindt, Jr. but nearly loops in in turn 4 and falls back to Geving. Lap 14 and everyone is now running the bottom where the track is much smoother. Geving tries several times to get around Jonson low in 1 and 2 but can't make it stick. Lap 22 and Lindt, Jr. comes up to lapped traffic and gets hung up behind Simpson. Johnson and Geving close in and it is now a 3 way battle with 2 laps to go. Lindt, Jr,. grabs a 2 car advantage coming out of turn #4 as the white flag is shown. Lindt, Jr.holds his line for the final lap and secures the win. Geving tries Johnson low in 3 and gets along side. As they come out of 4 they are nearly dead even. Geving wins the drag race to the checkered flag and takes 2nd in a photo finish.

Hard Charger Again this week is Geving - 12th to 2nd. Johnson moved up 7 spots.

Thanks for the great recap and quick results! I'm curious about the Spec Sprints, since it was Petaluma's first season race for them?

11 spec sprints - draw heats

#32 Chris Maggon won Heat 1 and #36 Bob Newberry won Heat 2.

Newberry won the 25 lap feature. Starting on the front row he pretty much dominated and led every lap. Race only slowed by 2 yellows. Magoon and #41 David Press had a pretty good race long battle for 2nd. David Goodwill in #3g might have been a factor, but came to a stop on lap #16 running in 5th and was done for the night. With only 11 cars lapped traffic was never a factor. Would love to see 20 cars for the feature. The specs really haul tha mail around Petaluma.

Drviers went into the stands before the start of the features to pass thier helmets and raise money for the Kellen Chadwick family. Promoter Sores started the fund with $2,000 and he came on the mike later to let the fans know they donated another $2,000+ to help the Chadwick family. Chadwick was seriously injured in a modified race earlier in the year in Arizona.
