Hats off to Pat Cannon ("the future of 410 racing' - buzzkill, 2006) and the local Highlands Team who romped the Grove BOMBERS last night for his first career 410 win. In only his second night of 410 racing, Pat took a commanding lead in his heat race and won it going away to earn a front row start in the A Main beside veteran PA Posse / WoO racer Tim Shaffer. At the green, Pat took off like he was shot out of a cannon, leading the field with a 5 car lengths coming out of turn 2.

Pat lead the race flag to flag in spite of several yellows which erased his margin over the chase group. Excellent racing in the closing laps as the top 4 cars - Cannon, Shaffer, Bolke and Montieth ran under a blanket in traffic at the historic half mile.

During the pre-race commentary, several points were brought to light by the VIP Brain Trust. Only 21 cars scheduled to start the race had ever won a 410 race...Cannon was one of the 3 non- winners who were eyeing the rite of passage. Only 14 of the cars scheduled to start had ever won an A main at a "best of the rest" event (WoO / NST / King's Royal / Slick 50).

Sprint Car Feature - 25 laps - 1. Pat Cannon, 2. Tim Shaffer, 3.
Ryan Bohlke
, 4. Brian Montieth, 5. Fred Rahmer, 6. Brian Paulus, 7.
Don Kreitz, Jr., 8. Lance Dewease, 9. Chad Layton, 10. Greg Hodnett,
11. Alan Krimes, 12. Brian Leppo, 13. Mike Erdley, 14. T. J. Stutts,
15. Mark Smith, 16. Tony Bruce, Jr., 17. Todd Shaffer, 18. Michael
Carber
, 19. Craig Keel, 20. Niki Young, 21. John Rudisill, 22. Lucas
Wolfe
, 23. Rick Lafferty, 24. Jeff Shepard

DNS - Doug Esh /Cody Darrah - got together on the FS in the warm up laps for the A Main.

So my question to dirtracer84 and his dirt motorsports fan club...

1) How much time do you need to point out the BOMBERS in the field above, whom you spoke so much about in your recent rash of posts?

2) Did the "best 410 racers in the country" rent a DVD last night last night, like a contract performer on a circus night off?

Thank you to all local and traveling RACERS who supported our local promoter's "silly" and "risky" early races. The hardcore fans appreciate the efforts you put fort...while others, stuck in parts unknown...denegrate your efforts like trolls...chained to the underside of the sewer cover they call home.

and as always...thanks for playing and have a nice day, the corn can be planted any day now...

I was there last night, some pretty good heat racing, but the A Main sucked. Virtually no passing, Monteith and Boehlke put on a show the last 3-4 laps, but it was mainly follow the leader. Reminded me alot of those "circus" races you're so quick to criticize.

Won from the front row, two weeks in a row...just the the WoO, huh?

When a WoO guy does it, he's cherry pickin' the locals, what can you expect; when a local does it, he's beaten some of the best there is....awesome job....Not to pick on Pat Cannon, just pointing out something...

Am I missing something in BRR's posts? Or does he really talk out of both sides of his mouth?

Congrats to Pat on your first 410 win. Was just reading about him in the newest Sprint and Midget mag.

Also good runs by my favorite Posse drivers Chad and Lance!

BRR is and always will be a d!ck

Tim Shaffer = Posse????

Last time I heard he was from Aliquippa, Pa which is Western Pa. and his home track was Lernerville Speedway.

That would be the Lernerville Speedway that hosts the $36,000 to win Don Martin Silver Cup that most of the true Pa Posse can't seem to find anymore.

C'mon, BRR - you know that the reason that your posts get so many views...it's like a car wreck on the highway.....

Folks are always gonna slow down to look at the wreck, even if it is an ugly wreck......so what if they look?

then you must be driving by several times to revisit the scene...

Tim Shaffer was afforded the compliment of Posse out of repsect. He has been a Posse regular in the past (Apple 12, etc.)...and is now driving the red 61, which is a local car.

If my memory serves me correctly, Tim has raced the red 61 more times than the other car this year.

back to the DVD selection...

Hats off to Pat Cannon and company. Heck of a deal to win the Grove in only his second try in a 410.

I would have thought the header for this post would have been "358 Driver matches WoO a$$whipping of the posse." After all didn't a rookie do exactly what a WoO driver did last week in Posseland? Start on the pole of his heat - win it, start on the pole of the feature and win it.

Hmmm.

The first of many for "The Future."

Yo dude, you really need to get out in life a little bit more. I have never critisized the posse, just pointed out facts. You wan't to brag about a local guy winning a race at a local track, yet will not give credit to an out of towner (full blown WoO, not some lame FOAW guy), that come's in to your home den and wins a race. Congrats to the new guy that won last night, but in all reality, you wan't to claim Tim Shaffer as posse? You might as well take Gary Wright, Brent Kaeding and Danny Lasoski (from the knoxville days with Forbrook) then too. The difference between you and me is that I have witnessed races from coast to coast the past two years from 360 to 410 and have enjoyed all of them. I enjoy ALL races and bitch about none. You get all banty-roostered up about defending your beloved posse (which apparently means anyone that ever raced in PA) while I simply enjoy racing anywhere, under any sanction. You need a heavy dose of "chill the hell out" and a travel slip. There is great racing going on all over the country, EVEN IN PA! Too bad you have tunnel vision. I will now take this time to personally congratulate Pat for last nights win in PA. Glad he could get it so early in his young career. I'll look for you in Knoxville for the Nationals. Where will you be sitting?

Pat Cannon has Williams Grove A-main feature wins in Super Sportsman, 358s and now 410s. The only driver in the history of the Grove to have accomplished this. Congrats to the Highlands team and their young pilot!

Great race and great run for Cannon. Has anyone noticed that Tim Shaffers ride has been brought open trailer? I know the car and engine have strong backgrounds, but thats still awesome. The top 4 had a blanket over them the last few laps. Nice to see Bolhke handle last weeks dissapointment by coming back with 3rd after edging out the edge himself. Rahmer had a decent run as well, although I hear he out did himself tonight at Lincoln.

I have to agree that BigRightRear always insults the WoO and other series and always goes on and on about the PA Poss! I was told when I went to Lernerville last year that even though the track was in PA, it wasn't a Posse track because it was in the Western half of the state. BTW: I was really impressed with the track and drivers and am looking forward to going back Smile I also know that Tim Shaffer lives just outside of Pittsburgh and his home track is Lernerville because it is less than 30 minutes away. When Shaffer does well BigRightRear wants to claim him as Posse? It just doesn't make sense. CA is a big state and we are happy to still have tracks in different areas of the state and as many talented drivers as we have. We consider them all locals and are proud of them when they do well racing locally and in other areas of the country.

I agree that PA has great racing and great drivers, but I think you need to stop being negative against everything that's not Posse. You have the big 1/2 miles as part of your signature because those are your favorite tracks, but why not include other tracks in PA? I think the racing is better at smaller tracks compared to bigger 1/2 miles. I had the choice of going to Lernerville or Williams Grove and I was told Lernerville had better racing so I went there. Of course I am partial to seeing sprint cars on 1/4-3/8 mile tracks. I wish I time to go to the other half of the state to see the 1/2 miles, but it will have to wait till next time. Eldora isn't even in PA- Are you claiming that as a Posse track? Let me guess you moved from El Paso(or another area) to PA for the great racing and cold weather! I think we should be thankful to still have tracks and still be able to watch sprint cars. I agree with dirtracer84 on his most recent post and thanks for mentioning Brent Kaeding. He has been racing since the late 70's, won hundreds of races, done great things for sprint car racing, and he is being inducted into the sprint car hall of fame this year. In CA you either love him or hate him, but everyone respects what he has done over all these years. My last comment to BigRightRear is quoting dirtracer84 saying "chill the hell out" and get out of Eastern PA and watch sprint car racing in other parts of the country!

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

Just some observations from your post: You have issues with BRR's negativity, but stick up for a guy that calls the cars in PA "shitboxes" and bashes every chance he can? That quote about El Paso is from Van May, not BRR. Van moved from Texas to PA to race in the 1970s and stayed here ever since. He told the story about why he moved to PA last week on the board.

Lernerville has never been considered a Posse track because did you any of the drivers generally considered Posse racing there (Hodnett, Rahmer, Dewease, etc.)? The central Pennsylvania Sprint Car tracks are generally considered as Posse tracks.

I have seen four or five regular shows at Lernerville over the years and it is neat to see three top notch divisions all on the same night, but there is no comparison between the Grove and Lernerville when it comes to Sprint Cars. Lernerville has a few Sprint Cars that are very fast and run roughshod over the remainder of the field. The field is much more competitive at the Grove.

Not all the tracks in cen. PA are half-miles. Lincoln is a bullring and watching Rahmer come through traffic there is amazing, Got to see him win Saturday night from 11th in a caution-free feature. If you ever get to central PA, be sure to check out Lincoln. Sounds as though you would enjoy the racing there. Smile

and the trolls climb from the sewer once again a but still no takers on QUESTION #1!

which CARS in the results are the BOMBERS you refered to last week?

as expected, change the subject and lose your minds as to why i CREDITED Shaffer for driving a POSSE CAR...maybe that is because he IS IN A POSSE CAR.

dirtracer84: your little velvet patch is going to rubbed the wrong way a lot this year if you can't handle the facts...get used to it...the season has just started. please let ALL of us know when a young gun from your area becomes a lame FOAW guy.

For the record: I have traveled to sprint car races in PA, Ohio, Floriduh, Tennesse, North Carolina, Texas, Iowa and California and the local racers in these areas pale in comparison.

I can't really see anything wrong with dirtracer84's post above. In fact, I agree - although I don't get to see races coast to coast - that would really kick ass if I could. probably should try it soon - before the crashing economy kills off any way it will ever be possible.

The more I read the dick's posts (BRR) - the more I find that in the generalized argument of Posse vs. everywhere else and everything else and everything else in between - the more I find that most them folks up there in PA ain't half bad. pretty cool folks I've argued with on here that seem pretty down to earth and well ----- just cool. many seem like the type of folks you would like to meet at an out of town racetrack. I've met some pretty cool people in Iowa, Arkansas, Texas, even other tracks here in Oklahoma.

now with that being said - every village has its "runt" or "troll". Most the arguments that get made on here don't have that much negativity or just flat out bullshit in it until 1 person posts. many of the PA posters here are cool about it - while at the same time defending their very own local dirt track racing. ain't nothin wrong with that. But there seems to be just a couple or maybe even 1 who can't possibly grasp the notion that other people in the continental united states as well australia can possibly enjoy their own local dirt tracks. While in every manner it may not be the quality in one persons area what it is in another - folks still LOVE going to see their area's racing. I'm talkin bout ANY track. whether they just run stock cars - or 305's - and may not get but a dozen in each class. The fans that attend those places are there because they love it. So we should be quick to seperate - most folks from PA acknowledge and appreciate this fact - only a couple do not. The argument of Posse this and Posse that can be pretty amusing and fun - it's a competitive type of rivalry - and I think rivalries are good for ANY sport. but like I said most of the folks on the PA end can appreciate other areas racing as well. while still at the same time believing whole heartedly that their local racing is the best. c what I'm sayin tho? - they hold their racing in high regards and recognize that others everywhere else do as well. I'm saying this so I'm not generalizing the runts into a whole group. it most certianly isn't. PA probably doesn't just have great racing - but great fans as well. sometimes we all forget to seperate those who get it - and those who don't.

But there is always that 1 guy. that pesky little shit. that does his damndest. That can't seperate the knowledge of his areas racing being his favorite - to everyone else having THEIR OWN favorites as well. That wants nothing less than to believe that his regions racing is superior and therefore it makes him as well. and while common sense may elude many of us much of the time - it steers clear of this asshole altogether. Love your local racing all you want - appreciate and embrace it - but superiority has nothing to do with it. I could go from OKC to PA and see more races and they may even be better - but in truth probably like it less. and in truth - what defines better? is better not just a perception? All these great tracks - and events - and great races all over the nation I;d love to visit - VISIT! VISIT! VISIT! but I like going to races and seeing drivers here who I know of - or grew up watching. As much as i like to entertain the notion of moving wherever I want based on open wheel racing - the reality is that for a long time - I would miss the F*ck out of the racing here in Oklahom and surrounding parts. I love the weekly racing in Oklahoma City. everything about it. the environment, the facility, the smell, the atmosphere, the folks I know, the folks I don't, the track, the setup, the front stretch chute down at track level, the view from anywhere in the grandstand - whether it be to the west - to the east (downtown) or to the north (the entire pits), the always malfunctioning scoreboard, the very very big guy down in turn 4 who orgainizes stuff - argues with the promoter - speaks with a lisp - and defies all logical explanation on how a golf cart can take that much of a pounding week in and week out, the pits, the cars, the drivers, the crew members, the familiar faces, my favorite drivers, my least favorite drivers, the cars hitting the infield tires and knocking them on the track (all the time), or the track official on the 4 wheeler who seems on a hellbent mission to be ran over as he crosse the track while the cars are RACING (which ain;t so good really), the big ass tractors that are used for mega wheel packing and towing guys all over the place, comparing the speed of the race cars down the back stretch by timing them with the passenger cars heading north on May Ave., the fans in the stands, not to mention the actual grandstand itself, and the beautiful view that faces east towards downtown OKC. and I appreciate the track workers - who sacrifice that great view of the racetrack (and downtown) to help out with the show. probably underpaid as well. Sometimes I don't care for the over-priced food and the promoter. but I appreciate them as well. All these things I would brutally miss if I ever moved. the only time I don't miss a friday night show in OKC is when I am in Knoxville Iowa for the 360 Nationals. I seriously love everything about MY racetrack. and yes it MINE. There is only 1 track that I will ever IN MY LIFE feel that way about - and it STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY in OKLAHOMA CITY. So for all the fans around the nation at great tracks who accept that others have their favorite as well. good for you. you people kick ass. but for those who just want to build up their own by tearing down everyone else's - piss off.

For those who have their own local fav's and can still respect all others thoughts on the matter - I genuinely thank you and want to shake your hand someday. Because myself I love my weekly track. But I want every race fans to feel towards their tracks that I feel towards mine. I love SFS. And I hope folks in wherever - love their whatever tracks too. to finish this off -BRR. have your jests little fella. enjoy your racing. in fact, enjoy it again, but pull your head out your ass so that maybe you can understand that the love I have for my weekly track is just as strong as the one u have for yours. and stay away from the sewers..man - as you keep telling that the rest of country's racing is shit - you just may find yourself stuck to one of those overnight -and for awhile. maybe at least then you could have some appreciation for othter race tracks and their fans............................................

This probably ranks as one of the top 3 posts EVER on this board. Great thoughts OKCFan12! I happen to be one of those people that love sprint-car racing anywhere in the country. I also happen to think that any driver that straps in is a great driver, because without all of them, we would have no show.

BRR, in regards to your answer to your question #1. You show your true ignorance by not letting this go. Apparently you are not smart enough to realize my comments were simply a jest towards you. Any real sprint fan from anywhere in the country ALREADY KNOWS that you people have alot of great local racers in PA. The funny part is I got what I wanted out of you because you are so predictable, that being a big ol' run-on response about how great your guys out there are, something we already know. What you apparently failed to notice was my congratulations to Pat on his win. It's really too bad you have such tight tunnel-vision. Did you know that there were races in Haughton, LA and Tulare, CA last night also? Jason Johnson won In LA. while Roger Crockett won in Tulare. Jeremy Sherman also won in Phoenix, along with Todd Schafer winning at Port Royal. Mike Spencer won at Perris also. Im pretty sure all of the above mentioned are pretty good drivers, but do you see anyone from CA, AZ or LA coming on here saying that they are better than any other area, or that the rest of the country is "lame" racing compared to your area?

Point made I believe

Once again, nice post OKCFan12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
