Speed just had a commercial wherein they teased the wind tunnel this Sunday as "having a major announcement from the WoO sprint and late model series!"
Has anyone heard what it is?
I wish Earl still did Eldora's track prep.

That would be my guess. Maybe something to do with the Nationals but that normally comes out in July.

IF I am not mistaken, Knoxville has its own deal for the TV, totally seperate from the WoO.
O have also heard that Knoxville may be on PPV in the future after the present contract expires.

I believe that is correct.....I think that either PPV or delayed broadcast is coming...

I hope the nationals aren't going to be on ppv or tape delayed, I think that would be the worst thing for the nationals. I think tape delays ruin televised sprint car races and I'm not excited at all when I watch a delayed race, you already know who wins the race so whats the point of watching? I used to enjoy watching the races live on TNN it was exciting and entertaining. Imagine if the nationals weren't live we wouldn't have seen the Lasoski family blow out, or Sammy getting out of the car to kill Mark Kinser, will miss the live action. Lets hope that dosen't happen.

It is been documented by the track that the drop in attendance at the nationals is directly related to live TV....Having live coverage takes the urgency out of being there.... I know that a number of the FB members would like to see either PPV to recover some of the losses generated watching live or tape delay.... I guess the bottom line is try to make the show and you won't miss anything plus you can eat and smell all the great food both on and off the track...

Up where I live last week's Bon Jovi concert, any Wild game and an afternoon Twins game during the work week are a snapshot of a typical week in the Twin Cities entertainment market. All of these examples will draw bigger crowds than any race and would make a dirt track operator envious. Which illustrates that the biggest dirt track race is still a niche entertainment market compared to an average week of events at the Metrodome, Target or Excel Energy Centers.
Fans come from far and wide to see the big races. With fuel and everyday living costs up I think they'd be wise to convert to PPV or at the least a delayed broadcast. Dirt track racing is not now and probably will never be as big entertainment wise as a routine week in any metro area. Unlike those other types of entertainment dirt track racing is more dependent on a live audience to survive.

Maybe something due to the fact that OIL Prices are through the roof and it is getting pretty expensive to haul around as much. Im sure tow money cant even put a dent in the cost anymore.

I'd say it's a TV deal on SPEED that will be announced.
I would think Knoxville eventually goes PPV...the Chili Bowl made a boatload of money off theirs in January. Same with the Deam Race last year for Eldora.

I'm curious... do you know this for a fact or are you just speculating?

...the numbers I heard from industry people who would know were pretty impressive.
TV deal IS what will be discussed Sunday night. Confirmed.

The Outlaws are in a position that most other series aren't in that they race all over the country so bit of tape delayed stuff serves to wet the appetite.
Why do we still say "tape delayed" when everything is digital? Old habits I guess

Digitally delayed maybe?
Either or it is sprint car racing on dirt, on tv.

Should not be watching Sprint Car Racing for that garbage. The Springer type stuff is low brow and attracts the wrong kind of crowd. One who has a bloodlust and wants to catch some beat downs should watch UFC or events as such.
Then the comment about knowing who wins...Well, kinda an easy fix. No-body is strong-arming you to view the racing sites or live results, would simply advise to stay off the 'net for a night-so when the tape delay is broadcast, guess what-It is just like live anyway. I recall as a kid, getting my NSSN 10 days after an event and excitement was all there.

Maybe they're announcing merger. From now on, it will be known as USAC/WoO.

I enjoy watching these fights because there is a passion behind it, there fighting for the knoxville nationals. It just shows how much that race means.

Personally, I would rather watch it live on tv, not a tape delay. Not everyone can take the time off to enjoy the event in person, and even if you don't surf the net to not see the results, it's not the same thing watching it on Sunday as it is watching it live, on Saturday night...The Nationals are big enough to not have to worry about pay per view.
Fenders are like vacuums... they both suck.
