To answer a few question:
as for the 50 laps sat. main there has never been a winner in total points to win the Sat. Main thats why we will try 50 laps. (as for the fuel stop how many races have you sent that go 35 non stop) For the Thurs. Main you will not put a better driver in front of you, your racing for points.(just to be a little different) For the 3 day show its not fair to split the field will the points they see diffent track each night. The reason for 3 days if you were there last year how many races were cut short.(to many laps had to be run on Friday, qualifying and heat and 4 mains) As for the cost I know no other 3 day format that you will see the quality of racing as at the trophy cup for the price. Plus 2 FREE meals if you purchase tickets in adavance. And last but not the least Make-A-Wish gets all the Money from the Sponsors and fan that donate in the raffle, cow pie bingo, and shirt sales. This the 15th year and we wanted to try something different. Last thing it will be a tribute to a driver and his family that have contributed so much to this sport. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE AND IT WILL TURN OUT TO BE THE BEST
Dave

Thanks for the update Dave. Obviously this is the first try at 3 days and if everything goes smooth it can be done again the same and if anything doesn't, those can be tweaked for next year. Thanks for continuing the event year after year. The Trophy Cup is no doubt one of the top 3 winged sprint car events on the west coast.

What are they doing away with on thurs and friday nights to cut the time of the show down? Will there only be qualifying and heat races? Not questioning the reason just wondering how it will save time?

Either way there will still be a fuel stop. You can start the race on the bare minimum in fuel knowing that somewhere between lap 17 and 35 you will be getting more fuel(weight). I can not beleive they can not run 50 laps of green and 50 laps of yellow on a 1/3rd mile track without needing fuel.
You are correct as are others that this is the best race of the year outside of the Gold Cup. The fact that is now honors someone that is an Icon of sprint car racing makes it even more special. I hope the change in format does not change the race.

The controlling factor here is how well the track holds up.
If the track goes away, no one will be able to move forward in the additional laps anyway.

Dave Pusateri - I can't thank you enough for continuing on with the Trophy Cup year after year and fnding tracks willing to host this great event. We are very lucky here in California to have someone willing to put in all the time, work, promotion, and effort year after year after year. You must really love those kids. I for one cannot wait until I take now take 2 days off work to watch sprint cars. And at the same time I can support (in a small way for sure) someone's final wish to come true and enjoy my facorite sport.
