If I read this correctly Mike set a new record Thursday night, if true congrats to the 50 team.

from USAC site...

...Drivers will be aiming at Rabert Ballou's official 1-lap LVMS dirt Track record of 17.036 seconds...

from qualification results. 1. Mike Spencer, 50, Chaffin- 17.015

yes, it's true. Spencer set a new track record last night. And I cannot believe the track surface either. Being from Vegas I have ragged at the track operaters every time CRA comes here. I thought I was having an out of track experience. They finally listened to someone. At first, the track was pretty sloppy in hot laps and the first couple qualifying sessions, Levi Jones in the first group over a second slower than Spencers time. But the track came around. And Cole Whitt rode out one of the most exciting wheel stands I have ever seen. All the way down the front stretch and didn't lift till he threw it side ways for turn one. Only three heats though, some of the teams that opted not to come up really missed out. The main event was great, two groove and sometime three, all as fast as the other. In the first lap, Kruser came from tenth to third with Cole Whitt following. At first Jesse Hockett was running away but Whitt after getting by Cory and Little Shoe reeled him in. They swapped the lead back and forth a couple times, Hockett running high and Whitt down low. There was racing all through the field. The last eight to ten laps had everyone on their feet. The top five were not in this order but Hockett, Little Shoe , Cory, Whitt and Blake Miller. Where did he come from??? He looked like crap in his heat and semi, but found something in the main. All five guys had the lead at least one lap in the last ten or so laps. I know the tracks history on the surface isn't very good but from their worst critic, a huge two thumbs up. If you didn't come, you missed an awesome event
