How many of those did you PAY to see?
Did you buy stock? If not then don't worry about it.
|
I paid for all of them but 2 local races. Several of them I also paid for my kids to get in.
Dude, you are wasting your breath on trying to make your point. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars on WoO tickets since 1979 (the first year they raced in my area). I have traveled hundreds of miles just for a 1 nights WoO race. Do I qualify now?
I buy stock, but I buy stock that actually gives a RETURN.

Do you own Dirt stock? If the answer is no, then stop bitching about it. What is your goal? You are beating a dead horse. The group that YOU would have bought stock in went belly up. Are you wanting Dirt to go belly up also? Will that make you happy if you can say "I told you so" a few years down the road? I have to admit that it does feel good to laugh at all of you that defended the NSL/NST kool aid drinkers but in the long run it is not good for our sport that we all are supposed to love.

First off, please point out where I am "bitching" about DIRT's stock. Just pointing out it's dismal performance. What's wrong, did you buy some and now you're a little sore about it?
First you bag on me about attending races until I call you on it, now it's about owning stock. Quit grasping for straws and move on. BTW, I would NEVER buy stock in something as volatile as a racing organization.
Do I want DIRT to go belly up? It doesn't matter to me one way or another, I have said all along that DIRT is a farce and it is proving to be true more and more every day. It can't go on forever. Sprint car racing was here LONG before DIRT came along and it will be around WAY after they're gone. I will be the first to say that DIRT has made some positive changes to the WoO SPRINT series, however they made more than enough mistakes in their first 2 1/2 years to last a lifetime. IMO, they are still a doorbanger series that just happens to own 1 sprint car group.
BTW, are you ever going to pay your bet???

Call it bitching or not, you cannot post anything about Dirt without it being negative. Let it go man, your team lost.
"Dirt is a farce"? Was Ted a farce? Dirt runs their organizations more like a business than he ever did. Remember when they bought it just a few years ago there were only 5 teams that ran every race the year before. Now look at it, maybe 28 teams to attempt the tour next year? That is pretty amazing and it shows the confidence that the teams must have in Dirt.
I bag on you about being one of the message board bigshots that in reality doesn't go to more than what was it...seven WoO shows last year, or was that seven sprint shows total? Those were your words not mine.
How is Dirt proving that they are a farce more and more every day? You must mean the best TV package ever for any dirt track group. No, you must mean that there is close to 30 teams making an attempt to run the entire series. No, you must mean the fact that they are giving the fans what they asked for; rules to try to contain costs and make the racing better. Remember when Ted did those things? I don't. I can go on if you would like.
As far as the bet. I really don't remember the specifics other that I let the other poster have the bet. I was never in it in the end.

That's a pretty low blow. Besides, the race teams take the hit for being illegal, not the engine builder. It's up to their discretion, and evidently Al Hamilton didn't seem too concerned with who bought the thing...lol. Likewise Jason Johnson won a prelim at the Nationals and ran 3rd in the finale supposedly with a similar motor and passed tech without any problems.

I said that they have made some positive changes, but their business model is still a joke. I think that their stock prices are pretty good proof of that. It has done nothing but go down since they went public. I wasn't a supporter of DIRT before the NST and I'm not one afterward.

Actually, yes, Ted was a farce in his business dealings. That's why he had to sell. 5 teams 'eh? There, you are once again wrong, you'd better go back and check. I would make another bet with you on the # of teams that will run the full 2007, but since you seem like a welsher, I guess I know that answer to that one...
I bag on you about being one of the message board bigshots that in reality doesn't go to more than what was it...seven WoO shows last year, or was that seven sprint shows total? Those were your words not mine.
Bigshot 'eh, is that YOUR perception of me? It certainly isn't my perception of myself.... As far as race attendance goes, I will compare race attendance with you ANY DAY....How about next week while we're at the Chili Bowl?

Uh.....The present TV package doesn't match the one Ted had with the LIVE shows on TNN. 30 teams huh?????? ROTFLMAO...for a few nights anyway... Name one rule that has been passed in the last 3 years that made a SIGNIFICANT impact on racing costs.
As far as the bet. I really don't remember the specifics other that I let the other poster have the bet. I was never in it in the end.
LOL, I knew that was coming. You AND another poster made the bet. But I knew you wouldn't pay, that's why I never pressed it. The other poster paid and I will be paying on 2 bets I lost while at the Chili Bowl. I guess that you're lucky that the other forum got deleted, what a welsh....

Ok, here we go. Ted was a farce, Dirt is a farce. Who isn't? Has there ever been been anyone run 410 racing that was't a farce to the all powerfull Hawker? Maybe you should start your own organization.
I was a bit off on the five team statement. It looks like there were seven teams and six drivers. I am not a welsher as you put it. I talked the talked and would have walked the walk but as you obviously don't remember I backed out in the end when someone else called you out. I can't remember who it was; Stan or Coach but I don't remember the exact bet because I wasn't involved so watch who you call a welsher. I agree there is no way that all of teams will make it the whole year. I didn't think they all would last year but they did.
Your attendance when it comes to 410 races doesn't come close to mine. Unfortunately I can't make it to the Chili Bowl. I live in OH. and I save my vacation for the summer. OH. is where 410's run at least twice a week.
Ted didn't start the TNN deal. I believe that Pat Patterson did. I wish it were live also but I understand how tough it is to have sprint cars live. I am very happy with whatever we get. Instead of me naming one rule that has made a significant impact on racing costs why don't you, the all knowing Hawker, tell me ONE rule that they could implement that would make that impact?
Don't call me a welsher because of your lack of memory. Happy New Year.

Hawker, If I remember correctly the bet was taken over by Coach Bob. Sprintfan0 backed out early because you kept on changing the wording of the bet. There was such a spin factor that nobody could even keep up on the specifics. We ALL get where you stand on DIRT and the WoO sprints. You don't like the management, don't like the direction, don't like the paper losses, don't like the stock prices, etc. Broken record. It's unsolicited advice to criticize a group unless you have a better alternative. You thought there was a better alternative, but, alas, it went "poof". Until there is a better alternative that lives, you appear to be spinning your wheels. It's great to give your opinions and suggestions mixed with a bit of sarcasm, but at the same time you seem shocked that not everyone agrees with you. Enjoy the Chili...

You have mistaken one bet with another.
CoachBob stated that the 2006 drivers would place the same or better in 2007. The be I wanted was that none of the 2006 WoO drivers would finish in the top 3 in 2007. We never could agree, so we let it go.
The other bet, between me, Rickrod3 and Sprintfan0 was. As of March, none of the NST teams would drop off the tour. Rickrod3 bet before the end of May, he lost and paid ($20). The bet with Sprintfan0 was through the rest of the season. He lost and is now claiming he never made the bet (Rickrod where are you???). I also made a bet with another person on another board (Risinoutlaw) that Kemenah would win the WoO championship, as you can tell, I lost my ass on that one (a Chili Bowl T-shirt)...
I could care less what other people think, I have said for years that I'm not into the "popularity contest" that several on this board seem to thrive for. My alternative is to go to whatever races I want to, whenever I want to. I have bought WoO tickets (and will continue to do so) since 1979. I will also continue to buy t-shirts from all drivers (somewhere I even have a Holbrook T).

As far as organization leaders I respect. Though Ted did make some big mistakes, he did more good for the sport than bad. The person I respect the most though would be Bert Emick.

maybe you can bet a few shares of penny stock...at least the cheap bastards will be able to afford them by the end of the season.
