Glad you bumped this thread. I saw a Sprint Car race in person this weekend in PA. How about you? Any live races this weekend? Didn't think so. Six more weeks for you? Like I said earlier, don't hate the fans because they will sit out in the cold to watch racing when others won't. If fans elsewhere in America were half the hardcore diehards that the fans in PA are, other tracks would be right with PA in scheduling races as early as they could.

We're Not Worthy! We're Not Worthy! We're Not Worthy!

All hail the kings of diehards in PA. Ya'll have seminars on how to be so "hardcore"? lol.

I'm jokin b/c in Oklahoma and surrounding states racin starts round the same time it starts there in PA. But in all honesty - I'd take racin' startin 3-4 weeks later in the spring. Because of the Chili Bowl.

strangely enough - I must be losing some hardcore-ness. because I am not at all down anymore with goin and freezin. unless the race is good enough. like the Short Track Nationals last year - that was worth it. but some sat. local okie track - funk that. I'm realizing more and more with age that it's a very good thing to be interested in multiple sports. I like football and ncaa basketball. forgot where I was goin with that...................

Dear Mr. Singlefile It was 60 degrees here last night when the Outlaw show finished up at Manzy. They had a 26 car field, and the winner came from the 3rd row. I find it amusing that you mention the dearth of shows other than Pa. this weekend with the WoO in Phoenix, and USAC racing in Vegas. I would be a little less provincial in my views. Oh, and BTW Manzy ran 2 weekends ago with 47 sprints, 57 midgets, and 18 silver crowns. So there is racing going on other than Posse country.

My apologies if you were offended. That was not my intent. Sounds like an enjoyable show at Manzanita. Go back and read this thread. The original post was designed just to stir shit (and I know I gave the OP what he wanted), and then the thread was bumped for the same reason. The OP has seven posts, and I think every one of them has been a bash on PA teams or tracks. It was a new account created just to bash.

It just pisses me off because I know a lot of the teams and drivers in the area and constantly read people on here bashing the entire area -- even for something as stupid as a cancellation

As far as me being provincial, I am over 160 tracks visited. That includes Sprint Car, Late Model, dirt and asphalt Mod and Supermodified tracks. I am far from provincial.

It was 40 degrees and the wind was howling when the show finished at Lincoln. They had a 28 car field, with a winner for the first time in 2 years and the hard charger gaining 12 spots (14 at one point). Whole afternoon cost $14, and I didn't need a cooler to keep the beer cold. Haha, just playing man, can't wait for the local night shows....and a question for the PA locals: How could Lincoln have the track in such great shape(slick I know, but for the time of year, I thought it was excellent), and the Grove, with better weather conditions and an extra day, cancels?

Listen dude, I am not knocking the racers from PA. Alls I am saying is that it makes no sense to try and race in the winter time. I think some of the best local racing in the country goes on out in PA. I know you have some of the loyalist of fans out that way. But in all reality, doesn't it make more sense for areas of the country such as California, Arizona, Texas and so on to have racing now? Their climate would agree anyway. The go/no-go to scheduled races in PA in the months of February and March the past 5 years pretty much backs me up, doesn't it? I find it humerous that my other comments piss you off, because in all reality, you can count on 65% cancelations in the Grove/Lincoln area in late winter races. The numbers will back me up. Don't be pissed, learn to deal with the reality that alot of these shows probably wont happen. Then be happy to get to see whatever race happens to run. No dis-respect meant to anyone. Just the cold hard truth.

Dirtracer84, if ya put it like that in the first place, there would not be any extra posts about this. You came across really bad. Why even worry about this in the first place. They had plenty of fans that went in the cold, and plenty more will go in the next few ICE COLD weeks. And like tomorrow, (60+ degrees) they get lucky and jam pack the place. Last year I went to a double-header of sorts with WG and Lincoln along with a boat load of others and it was awesome.

Once again, no insult towards the racers out there, but what will this weekend bring? It looks as if "mother-nature" wins again. So far they are 1 for 4 on scheduled races out there and after this weekend will be 1 for 6. Doing quick math, that is 17%. I think Alaska, Minnesota or Montana could hit 17% this time of the year. What I am saying is it just doesn't seem smart to schedule races in Winter time. You have advertising invested, along with many more unseen expenses that the promoter can never recoup. What exactly am I missing here? Maybe MSPN can help me out?

yep, only in PA do we WAIT until the DAY OF THE RACE to cancel the show...all with no sanction fee!

i wonder how these unseen expenses that you are worried about are getting worked out for CA and TN?

Your logic and comments make much sense but the Posse fan is a different breed and at times a little thin skinned, but there are few other negatives that can be directed their way. They make good friends but you have to stay in line, lol. Signing aboard is akin to joining the mafia, you're in for life and you better not waiver in your support or challenge the hierarchy. Good peeps, sometimes misguided in anger, still love 'em though, feeling isn't always reciprocal, my bad. Take It Easy....

Well Mr. BRR, from what I can see and tell, it looks as if all the advertising in California for this weekends mini gold-cup will pay off, as they have forecast high's to be in the 70's. You see, California is a year-round warm climate state. From what I can tell in our advertising out this way, there will be no sanction fee to race at Chico this weekend, so I'm not too sure of what you are worried about in that department. The race in TN I'm not sure on, but am pretty sure none of the WoO drivers were the one that pulled the plug. You see, those guys race for a living, racing at tracks from coast to coast and whooping major ass along the way. Hell, they even win the big money races in PA. I'm sure once spring rolls around, you will have some decent racing out in PA, and that the WoO guys will show up when scheduled and take that money also. Until that starts, enjoy the rest of your WINTER in PA land.

maybe PA tracks should KEEP the early race schedule for the local loyal fans and CANCEL them for the out of town whiners...then you guys can stock up on tampons and have your period without worry that other people might attend a race that you have no plans or means to attend anyway.

our schedule beats the heck out of driving across the country for a rain out or a race that gets cancelled 10 days prior, only to be replaced by LATE MODELS...that is priceless!

Go ahead and keep the early race schedule. The numbers from the past 5 years tell the story. 17% of them happen, which means 83% DON'T happen. Cancel the one's for the out of towners? IF you did that, the would lower the percentage of races run by a couple more percent for your guys. I also realize you people are pretty adament about how good your racing is out that way, and by canceling the out of towners, would give your local guys a chance to win the big money races. My other question is how would you have any idea if I have the means to attend any of your races? My last point is this: how can your schedule beat the heck out of any other option, as your schedule provides LESS racing then what the traveling guys are doing, percentage wise, and after this weekend, California's percentages of completed scheduled races will be over double what yours are.

glad to know our races get under your skin...and that you can't comprehend the difference between an out of town whiner (see the nearest mirror)and a traveling race team.

have a nice day, and do enjoy that outlaw race in TN, next we-....i mean year.

In all reality, there is no whining going on here, just some fact-finding when it comes to numbers, they back me up. Also noticed you side-stepped alot of the other things questioned in my above post. Also, I was wondering where I can apply for a job like yours, as it seems you have plenty of time during the work-week day to keep up with this thread. Some of us in the work-force have to stay true to the job we are hired to do during the day, not surf the web on a personal basis.

The whole premise of this thread is BS. You say;

"I find it humerous that my other comments piss you off, because in all reality, you can count on 65% cancelations in the Grove/Lincoln area in late winter races. The numbers will back me up. Don't be pissed, learn to deal with the reality that alot of these shows probably wont happen."

So you are pointing out that the weather in the northeast sucks in Feb/Mar. Great. They needed you for that.

Or, that;

"What I am saying is it just doesn't seem smart to schedule races in Winter time. You have advertising invested, along with many more unseen expenses that the promoter can never recoup. What exactly am I missing here?"

So you are now advising promoters that the weather sucks in the northeast in Feb/Mar? Again, I have a feeling they know.

What you are missing here, is promoters want to have races, racers want to race, and fans want to go see those races. Why would YOU have a problem with that or feel the need to start a thread saying as much?

its not real hard to cancel a race if you have bad weather, but its really hard to have a race if its not scheduled to start with. be a shame to sit here on a nice day if it happened by.

the region my friend - the region. the region is already under way.

but I think I may be losing my hardcoreness because I've had 2 consecutive weeks I coulda went to races - and chose not to.

Or maybe I'm just waiting for the ones worth driving a few hours for - (ASCS in Dallas) - tryin to make sure I'll be warm at whatever races I go to. comparitively speakin of course. now wind - thats a different story. that shit is an absolute joke here in the plains. if we get a day w/o gale force winds - it means Satan in wearin a sweater. don't happen often - thats for sure.

I do think your area is the only one who can hold races in such cold weather and it be supported well enough to be profitable. great place for dirty bastards (promoters).
