I havn't been able to find any results for Lincoln or the Grove yet. Who won? I can't imagine the races getting rained/snowed out this early in the year. It would only be like the 46th time in a row they havn't got the scheduled opener in out there. Seems like the past 5 or so years they got like 4 of 126 races in during early part of year.

Funny, I actually remember it the other way. Some of the largest crowds in history for opening day leaving no room to park. If it gets above 50, ten thousand people show up. Which is why Williams Grove and Lincoln keep it up year after year...lol.
They don't even know how to spell sprint car

Cubic is totally right about the crowds that do come out for the early season openers. The last two years have seen the February openers cancelled, but there were several years in a row when both tracks ran in February with 50 degree temps. I have noticed from previous posts that the original poster is just jealous because of the lengthy racing season in PA. Just because fans in other parts of the country aren't diehard Sprint Car fans that will sit out in the cold to watch the races, don't hate the fans that are. If tracks elsewhere in America thought that fans would support the shows, they would schedule races in February as well.

This sounds like a post from a snowy and cold area who has to wait until the first of April before they can watch a race, such as myself.

I heard sleet was the hardcharger. Of course fans show up for the season opener. One, they've had a long off-season, and two, the track conditions usually cause for a multitude of wrecks. When your cold and ornery, and there's little daylight, what's better than drinking some beers and watching cars getting into eachother all night long. Face it, the track conditions won't be great in February in the north, but it's still racing.

84................is it cold at the ICE BREAKER????? You bet, hence the name. The place is always, however, banged out, and it's also the first time allot of friends have seen each other since the previous September or October. Last year, early in the season, WG and Lincoln both raced on the same day.............what a blast to watch and be a part of the half hour pilgrimage from Lincoln North to WG with all the fans and race teams. It's a PA tradition, if ya were here for one, ya might understand it a bit better. I don't have a stat for how many of these opening weekends get weathered out, but it really doesn't matter. The racers come, the fans come, and we always have a wonderful afternoon. Don't know where you're from, but ya oughta try it sometime. Let us know when you're towin' in and we'll show ya a fun weekend!!

I've watched race tapes where they graded the snow to race.Of course the racers and fans were bundled up.Heaters sitting everywhere for the engines.I would not want money in a race here in Mo. because i'm afraid i'd lose it.But i would be there!!!

Last year Jason Barney ran the Rite Aid 200 Modified Race at Syracuse and the 360 Sprint Challenge at Rolling Wheels. Since Saturday rained out for the sprints, they had to do it after the Syracuse race. I was in the pits with Jason at both races, so I know what it's like to watch a race, and then know that you're about to go to another race. It's pretty cool, and would be all the much better at the end of an offseason.

The passion alone of the Posse fan can keep him warm enough but a few have been known to have some liquid help as well, not that there's anything wrong with that, lol. Take It Easy....

Isn't lookin' too hot for Saturday. The extended forecast is showing rain Friday/Saturday. Hopefully they'll be wrong about this one too.

So tell me how this weekend went at the grove? Who was the big winner this time? I guess the weather won again huh? Ya cant race on frozen dirt people!! Schedule your opener like the rest of the country when you actually have a chance to get it in! Its PA people, not AZ.

Glad you bumped this thread. I saw a Sprint Car race in person this weekend in PA. How about you? Any live races this weekend? Didn't think so. Six more weeks for you? Like I said earlier, don't hate the fans because they will sit out in the cold to watch racing when others won't. If fans elsewhere in America were half the hardcore diehards that the fans in PA are, other tracks would be right with PA in scheduling races as early as they could.

Dear Mr. Singlefile It was 60 degrees here last night when the Outlaw show finished up at Manzy. They had a 26 car field, and the winner came from the 3rd row. I find it amusing that you mention the dearth of shows other than Pa. this weekend with the WoO in Phoenix, and USAC racing in Vegas. I would be a little less provincial in my views. Oh, and BTW Manzy ran 2 weekends ago with 47 sprints, 57 midgets, and 18 silver crowns. So there is racing going on other than Posse country.
